Controlled Experiment: Foliar Feeding

Foliar feeding is a technique of feeding plants by applying liquid fertilizer directly to their leaves. I'm pretty sure that it's already been proven, but there are still skeptics, including myself. However, I noticed that a few plants I've been foliar feeding recently are now ahead in growth by 1-2 nodes compared to it's siblings started from seed at the same time. I want to see if I can reproduce these results and be sure that it's not just a fluke.

Technique Claims: Increased growth / foliage.

Purpose: To see whether or not foliar feeding has any benefit.

Treatment Group (given CNS-17 daily through leaves): [2] Vortex, [2] Jilly Bean, [1] Space Bomb

As a side experiment I've added a second treatment group.
Treatment Group #2 (given CNS-17 & Humic Acid & Fulvic Acid daily through leaves): The 2 Space Bomb (SB without K).

Control Group: [1] Vortex, [2] Jilly Bean

Notations: V = Vortex, JB = Jilly Bean, SB = Space Bomb, K = Foliar feed group.

Container: 2.5 gal

Medium: Botanicare Coco.

Water: R/O water.

Base Nutrients: CNS-17 Coco Grow.

Additives: Dyna-Gro Liquid Pro-tekt.

Feeding Frequency: CNS-17 Coco Grow, 4-5tsp/gal, hand watered every 1-2 days.
Foliar fed every day, will slowly work dosage rate up to suggested 3tsp/gal.

PH: 5.5-6

EC: n/a

Light: Outdoors.

Temperature: 80-90F

Humidity: ?

Is the treatment group receiving foliar feeding only or foilar feeding in addition to regular feeding?

I in. Interesting because I've heard tales of diminished root systems of plants heavily foliar fed. The theory is the plant becomes confused and doesn't think it needs to draw nutes from the roots anymore.

We'll find out!

Foliar feeding and regular feeding. I doubt they could survive only on foliar feeding, roots would die. Sounds like another experiment though haha.

Anyway, I discontinued this experiment due to no results. I'll try it again in the future if I ever have clones/seeds at the same age.

In conclusion I believe that foliar feeding can only correct deficiencies, but like a baby with it's mouth full, you can only feed so much. I don't think foliar can put a plant into overdrive, which was what I wanted to believe.
