I moved 2 re-grows from my veg room to my flower room yesterday. It had been 23 days since they were first harvested. I usually watch them while vegging and here is what to look for -- first, the small buds left on the plant after harvest have all turned dark and disappear. Second is being able to see new green growth at the top of the re-growing plant. After 3-4 weeks vegging they go back to flower.
Someone else asked why bother re-growing. Answer is more yield in less time. A 3-4 week veg time cuts weeks off the normal seed to flower time. Re-grows also "finish" faster the second time around. A blueberry strain I use a lot will finish as a re-grow after 5+ weeks flowering, 7-10 days faster the second time. Yield - my re-grows average 125-175% of the first harvest. That's using the same pot, the same dirt and the result is faster finishing plants with a greater yield.
Re-growing is perfect for the commercial grower. Perpetual grows require the grower to be able to predict when plants will be ready for the next room. With fast reliable plants I can better move my plants from the nursery (clone domes) to middle school ( veg room) to high school (flowering room). Graduation is much easier when my timing is accurate. Re-growing helps the timing as well as all the other advantages.
