Contact lenses

Whats up Lads and Ladies?

So I need and use glasses, and last week I got some contact lenses, rigid ones not the gelatine ones, so yeah I have been using them for the last week now, only a couple of hours per day as recommended by the doc, and gradually increasing the amonut of time I use them per day. So far I use them for about 6 or 7 hours of the day.

Is there anyone out there that uses or has used contacts? And if so, do you have any advice on making the adaptation process a bit easier, coz I get to the end of the day and I just wanna rip my god damn eyes out!
Also any advice on taking em out? Thats the hardest part for me, sometimes I manage pretty quickly and other times it seems to just take forever!

Any advice is greatly welcomed, I just wanna get used to them as soon as possible, as it is I have gone through about 2 bottles of eye drops! Hahaha, am I being a pussy or are these things really hard to get used to?

lotz of clear eyes contact man keep the lubed and taking them iz hard with nails i use my thumb and index fingrz ankinda pinch and they pop right out bt dont pop your eye out either its not a zit |')

Cool man cheers +rep, so no real secret then?? I mean, I'm basically doing what the doc told me to do, they are just irritating as hell to use at the moment.
Was just wondering if there were any tricks of the trade or some kinda secret to getting used to em.

Ive worn contacts for a long time. There are a lot of things that can make them uncomfortable. The first is the actual lenses, i wear disposables (good for 1 month) sometimes a pair fits like a glove, sometimes the suck and get tossed in 2 weeks. You should have tried them on at the eye docs, did they feel bad then too?

Different brands of lenses feel different, when I get new lenses my doc orders a pair of a few different brands and I try them all out and go with what feels best.


When I pop mine in I dont use a mirror, I just look up and pop the lense in.....make sure you put a drop of solution on them before you put them in, it helps a ton. Sae thing when I take them out, i just wet my finger before grabbing the lense....it takes time you'll adjust.
Its been a long time, but i do remember having some problems in the beginning. If you still having problems after 10-14 days Id call the doc back and have him take a look.
If they start irritating you, you can always pop them out and throw on glasses.

Yeah I unfortunately I only had one choice, seeingas they are rigid ones I hadto have them specially made, I have a stigmatism in one eye and according to my doc they don't make the soft lenses for stigmatisms. Anyway, I guess it's just heaps of eye drops, I mean they aren't reeeeeeeally irritating me, but I can feel them there, And the desire to scratch is pretty high! Hehehe

The doc said that the rigid ones take a bit of getting used to, so I will bare with them for a while, they are getting a bit more comfortable, but it's taking a while.

I have managed to get em in without a mirror, but getting them out is another freaking story!

never had rigid ones but one trick is to clean the solution they sit in ever day! otherwise bacteria grows that irriatate the eye and cause pink eye and shit. also before i put them in i wahs my hands and put the contact in my hand and give them a good scrubdown with my finger to get and hair or shit that might be on it. but once you break into them they will be easier to wear. no matter what by the end of the day when their dry they hurt like fuck, usually only use them when im out in public, indoors i quickly switch out. just takes practice putting them in/out, i can do them so easily now, although i have 1 month ones so my are probs easier

I have astigmatism in both eyes and wear soft lenses, i pay more for my lenses than normal lenses. They are called "toric lenses", heres the brand Im wearing now

ive worn them for years man ive only have one problem with them irritating my eyes was when my optician change the lenses i used they were a different type and they just fucked up my eyes i told them and they changed to other and they were fine again. about takin them out its all about the practice man you'll get it in the end i use one hand too hold my eye open and the thumb and finger of the other hand to pinch the lens (not your eye lol) good luck mate

i will say has anyone else got really stoned and tried to take their lenses out but you've already taken them out??? Fuck that hurts lol

hey Greenplease I also Have astigmatism in only one eye and I don't remember what in the other lol..
they do make really good soft contacts for astigmatism but they are dificult to get, I have to get them online at costalcontacts.
I used the acuvue oasys for astigmatism for one eye and acuvue oasys nomal for the other, and they are amazing... you really don' feel them at all!! (but that's only the Oasys line the others irritate like normal)
give them a try is really worth it!

toric lenses are absolutely awesome. i spring for the daily ones because the cleaning solution burns my eyes. for the first time since i was about 10 i have near perfect vision. it's really something else. up til these lenses the doc would have to "adjust" my regular prescription for the astigmatism but it's just not the same as the torics at all. i've never used the rigid ones because of the cleaning solution, but if i have any advice it is to NOT LEAVE THEM IN longer than you should. it's a good way to damage the cornea and get an infection.

Cheers for the help guys! Much appreciated, yeah the only reason I couldn't get soft lenses is because I have that stigmatism in one side and (I dunno the name but the one that effects long distance vision) in the other, so apparently my only option was rigid.

Also, the ones I've bought last for 2 years, so I don't have to worry about any for a good long while, I guess that's one advantage of the rigid ones.

Anyway after using them for a couple more days I seem to be adapting a little more, and am able to use them for a bit longer aswell.

And MellowHaze, that is funny as man! Hahaha, thats one thing I'm afraid of, getting drunk or high or both and either forgetting about them and passing out, or trying ta take them out and losing them (they weren't cheap)
