Constructing a nice sized room, need a little advice......

Hi all. Im setting up a pretty niced sized room about 12 feet by 15 feet or any size smaller if needed. The space is in a basement with a concrete floor. I have a few questions. The medium is organic soil as it is my first indoor grow. I have run 40 amps at 240 volt to the space and the idea that im shooting for is a classic mother/clone/veg/flower perpetual cycle.

1) I can put in a sink either inside or outside the room, based upon your experience which is adviseable? Would a sink in the grow room promote bacteria or mold growth potentually? I would rather have a sink outside the grow area, my partner thinks it is best to have a sink inside the room.

2) Should my mother/cloning area be built seperate from this structure? We have the space to build a small dedicated room just for this purpose. What would the ideal size be for a dedicated mother/cloning area? If you could have a seperate room for your motherplant operation would you?

3) Anyone see any reason not to use 600 watters for veg and 1,000 watters on light movers for flower?

4) Anyone happy with CAPs new Next Gen ballasts? Lumatek vs CAP vs Galaxy?

5) If you could rebuild your grow room and do things all over again, what would you do different?

6) If you could add to what you have in your space/growroom, what current improvements would you wish for?

Thank you so much for any help with these questions.

man, I dream of having that much space. I would put the sink outside, because you may want the room inside later on, and also because if you get a hose adaptor for the faucet you can bring a water source into the grow room whenever you want.

If you have the space you could have the mother clone area seperate, but this is just if you want to really. i would just include them in the veg area, so you only have to do venting and all that kinda stuff once and also get some beneficial lighting from the veg area.

Just my 2 cents man, hope your grow goes great. With that kinda space look at alb fuct's post about a lb every two weeks or something like that. Its stickied in the hydro section and would be a great model for you to base your stuff off of. Also it might convince you to grow hydro, it did to me haha.

I think that I will divide the space into 1/4 veg/clone 3/4flower. I will explore the thread that you mentioned. Thank you for the tips. Construction begins next week so I need to make final decisions soon on the final layout of the space. I would like to get this all done correctly the first time. Big choices to make about where and how to put things.

Sink inside the grow room for sure it creates alot less hassle, much easier to run your water purification system. Create a false room that you can divide into two for you mother/clones and you veg. If done right mothers and clones dont take up to much room use more room for your veg setup. Try to tie in your venting system with your bud rooms it is really easy as your mom/clone and veg room wont take to much venting. Becareful with putting an intake in your mom room as moms get older they are much more suseptible to problems and it seems that intakes can create those problems. Working with concrete floors is a huge plus and if done properly you can put in a sub pump in the corner of the room and never have to worry about flooding or stagnet water buildup. A built in cupboard that can hold a couple of 5 gallon buckets for your homebrewed tea would also be a huge plus.
