Thanks for testing this bro. I didn't know you were. I know a guy on the farm that runs reds at night with success...the exact opposite of this theory so I passed on this thread before anyone commented on the first post. But thank you for doing this for everyone and the community

I'm still scratching my head over the guy you know who uses red light at night... He does this flowering weed?

A lot of greenhouse farmers for other plants traditionally use red lights at night to keep the plants from going to sleep without having to keep all the lights on all night.

I would really like to see red on at night with weed, because it contradicts with the theory that 660nm red light brings Pfr to it's highest level. Of course I can't argue with results, but it's something I absolutely need to see before believing.

Nothing has ever led me to believe that using either red or blue light at night would be "Safe". Without seeing it, "completely dark" is all I trust for night time.

Did he have the red lights on at night specifically to keep it in veg with a shorter light cycle? I don't mean to question your experience because obviously your setup is amazing compared to mine, but I've always read that 660nm wakes the plant up like no other.

I didn't believe him either...said he was an idiot...then he bust out pics...and I am sitting there with my foot in my mouth.
I have been looking for a while this morning...can't find it still...but I will never forget it.
I told you everything that I know and where I saw it...it's on the farm somewhere. If you really want to know something...find it out/search for it yourself.

But with all that said it was not something that I ever want to do. Everyone is always trying to increase their yields magically. This is not a trick to increase yields...just something that happens to work...but is not ideal.

The most direct correlation to yield is photon received. And in the day light times with our technology(hps or led) can supply well more than the required DLI and that is enough to maximize the genetic potential of most every plant, even non cannabis.

I kinda like the lights off for a bit, makes my life easier, more relaxed during those times. I turn off my veg for 6 hours a day also. I am just not so worried about random hits of light getting in on my veg tent as I do on my fruit tent.. that never opens during the 12 hours of nite

Yeah well it was a bit half ass in the end....i think my ratios of blue were off....(perhaps too much for the space) or my timings were off...(maybe i needed more/less dark time)

It was pretty selfish of me really.....i was just searching the forum...looking for an excuse to construct a new panel... :) <<<<<< It can now be seen in the party cup comp.... :)
