Confused as hell

I have been trying to figure out the whole 'how many cfl's to use ' thing...and it seems some folks go by actual wattage and others by lumens....so will just say what i have and hopefully you guys can point me in the right direction...well...the most cloudy direction!

4 ~ 26w cfl's ~ all 6500k ~ all 1610 lumens each = 6440 lumens
1 ~ 42w cfl ~ 2700k along with 2700 lumens
Toltal ~ 9140 lumens



Each light has its own reflector and i maintain my light distance daily....this is just for 1 plant im veg...am i ok or just peeing in the wind? Thanks everyone!

6500k for veg (blue spectrum, summer sun) 2700k for flower(orange spectrum, fall sun) you'll need like 5 -6 more 2700's when you go into flower and get rid of the 6500's then

Gotcha zubey.....we are in the same page.....switch to all 2700k when flowering...and go with the more the marrier.....for some reason around my area high wattage 6500k's are hard to find....2700k's easy to find...cant wait till flowering!

you could also just buy a big lotus dual spectrum 200 w cfl, 75 bucks a pop but worth it if you dig on cfls. got a sun god komee 125, puts out 9500 lumens.

I also am confused about the amount of lights needed. I've posted elsewhere but I'll drop one here. Just like to know just the basic start, amount of bulbs,cfl's, to start with, I just placed my seedling from germanation into 2 peat moss pots. I feel down the road, after maybe 2 weeks, I'll need aa increase, but all this 23w, 4-65w 2700k and 4 36w 6500k, single 250 watt w/closed end reflector, 2,200 w blue spec, 26 and 150 watt and the list goes on. I, the beginner is just looking for a simple start. Maybe it's just a few of us that are confused, maybe a whole bunch. A guide for cfl lighting, the simple way with suggestions that it can be increased, we all know the more the better. Maybe one person, one new thread just for beginners or dummies, doing it the easy way. I'm the dummy, speaking for my self, but it is confusing as hell. I was in lowes last nite and all the different lights,cfl's, I was asked, do you need help, I guess I was looking stupid, I said yes, I'm look'in for some grow lights in the cfl section, and also said for marijuana plants. Young kid, he didn't know. Just something simple, then if ya want to, you could say, if you want a monster plant, do this. Well sorry to take up the space. So JBTRC, you're not the only one.

I just need to stop bein a tight ass......just lookin get some personal....oz or 2 a month average.....this is my first try i this......alot of people on here have real nice things happening....gets me excited. ...cool stuff everyone!

check out my set up man i;m at about 2.5 weeks flowering . grow box was simple to make and not expensive. well its about 80.00-100.00 but you can resuse it every grow

just try to hit all area's of the plant.. keep the lights pretty darn close but not close to where they burn (touching) as it gets bigger its hard to hit all of the area's so just do what you can.. and move them around

my buddie grew 4-5 plants under 2 CFL's and got some tasty nugs as well, it also really depends on genetics and stuff too

Im sure this has been said, but CFLs really dont let the plants stretch, and they yield a lot less than HPS grown bud, less dense most of the time, and have to be sitting right on top of the plants to get a decent yield. Always found CFLs more useful as a slow veg light for newborn seedlings and clones only.

yeah that is why my buds look dense and huge... lights are less then an inch away.. plus CFLs wn't burn my apt down. lol
