I am looking through the manual on my computer at the moment and am looking to add ram to it.

Type:Dual-Channel 533-, 667-, and 800-MHz DDR2
Memory Connectors: Four
Memory Capacities: 512 or 1GB
Minimum Memory:512
Maximum Memory:4 GB

I am wondering if this is saying that it only accepts 1 gig sticks max but I can put 4 in there to get 4 gigs of ram. And what kind of ram could I use for instance? Ecc? or non ecc? and what else do I have to look for on it before I buy two 1 gig sticks?
Thanks :joint::-|

look at a single 2gb before buying two 1s. There is already at least one in there, so you would be adding on top of 2, rather than adding up to 2gb. get the higher clockspeed chip too (mhz).

It accepts either 512MB or 1GB sticks. You should have the memory in pairs, because of the way dual channel works. That is to say two 512's are better than one 1GB if that was all you had. But yes you could put 4 1gb sticks in it. Non ECC is fine and actually a bit faster. Get the 800MHz.

What operating system are you using? Windows 7 and Vista (32 bit) can use up to 4GB, XP can only see 2GB.

Have fun :eyesmoke:

on a side note if your running a 32 bit o/s your computer wont show you the full 4 gigs of ram as some will be reserved by the o/s.
