Hello all. I bought two 120mm computer fans for my cabinet, but can't get them running. They came with PWM plugs on them – 4 wires – black. yellow, green & blue. They draw .25 amp @ 12VDC. I've tried connecting them to several power supplies (all over .5 amps), assuming that black is ground and yellow is positive 12VDC. No joy.



Can anyone tell me how to power these?

Post a pic of the molex connector? Maybe you accidentally fried the pwm board?? Incase you want a good one, delta 12v 3-4a 120mm fans can move a fuck load of air for its size, the only downfall is they sound like a beoing 747
 
Looks correct. Its either gnd/12v/tach/pwm (black/yellow/red/X) or gnd/12v/tach (black/red/X)

Could be defective or friend.

Could have accidentally used the wrong adaptor (amazon sometimes fucks up and sells 19v listed as 12v) or could have wired the adaptor backwards to the fan which will fry a cheap fan
 
i have those exact fans

but mine have black and red(those r the two u need)
if ur power supply is less that 4 volts they wont start
 
Here's a key to the wire colors. This image from the page is all you need though. If you don't know which power supply wire is positive or negative just try them both ways and see which way makes the fan turn. Just don't use the green and blue wires at all.

the pwm wire is what controlls the speed of the fan so you will need to connect ths to the 12v to for it to work
