compost tumblers?

Anyone have experience with a compost tumbler? I was wondering how good they are at mixing and if using it to mix soil would be a good idea. I have alot of soil to mix and I thought instead of mixing it with a shovel and rake and tarp like last time, I could just spin the compost tumbler a bunch of times and hopefully it will come out thoroughly mixed. Other people have said they used cement mixers and it mixed well so I'm thinking a compost tumbler could do just as good. Any thoughts or opinions or has anyone tried this?

Chur bro, I have been trialing this myself, bout 8 months so far mixing just fresh worms and castings outta the worm bin and compost. I put old leaves from silver beet to borage (some fresh also), whatever i get from the vege patch, to make up a good balance.

I have a raised bed and put whatever is ready from the compost tumbler in to that. then it is going to sit, and get turned over until my current grow in no-till has no life left. there's no real science to what im doing, but its going to compost for awhile and just add aeration when its time to transplant.

I recently went organic, so, a composter seemed proper, and it was. Unfortunately it is a little slower than you think. A super soil mix should be cooked or composted for 30 days or more. If you are just mixing and using right away it is not worth it. good luck..
