Hello so I can’t find any composted
Cow manure near me. And bus blend gonna cost too much to ship. Is horse manure viable? If so how many years should I be looking for it to be composted. Can I use vegetative matter based compost?

Yes, horse poo (or most any animal poo) is fine as long as it is fully composted. I’ve used it for mushroom substrate and tossed some into the recycling soil bin. No idea how long it actually takes to fully decompose but it should have no smell. At all. Decomposed veggies/fruit typically makes for high brix compost; you can use that but I would try and source some EWC as well.

Best I can offer is an entire season from spring to spring as my Amish supplier did. But that was mix ag and livestock. Just a dog now. Compost well after same period give or take.

And beautiful shroom natural grow medium.

Peace.

I would say avoid manure based composts and find something local that is more woody made with plant material that smells like mushrooms
