Complex Breeding Question

Hello guys, I am working on multiple breeding projects at the moment and I had a question regarding the pollen of a male I want to use

I used Male Photo GDP pollen to pollinate a Big Bomb Auto female and got seeds.

Those seeds are now growing and my question is if I use the pollen from a male plant from that cross and hit one of my skunk #1 photos with it what will the resulting seeds be as far as photo and auto? Will I get photo seeds, or half and half or will the seeds be more on the photo dominant side since the auto trait is recessive and will there be a giant gene pool?

Thank you

I forgot to mention these seeds that are growing now from that Photo GDP x BigBomb Auto appear to all be photoperiod plants. So it would be a photoperiod male I would be using from that cross.

most likely your result would be far more photo dominant, possibly what some breeders call a fast flowering plant..

to my knowledge it takes a few runs crossing with a true auto to get seeds to start to auto flower

Only the f1 cross between the photo x auto is a fast flowering photo strain after that gen it wont be so fast i reckon and yeah it takes generation's of work to select towards the auto trait to make an auto strain if your lucky you will see some full autos in the f3 i doubt it it usually takes more f4 to f5 to lock it down fully and if you now cross it with skunk it would just make it all photo except maybe an odd rare reccesive by crossing it to another photo when its already photo dominated is just ensuring that

Thank you for that. I love the infinite possibilities. :weed:

Isn't this how they've created "fast-flower" strains by incorporating some autoflower genes into the pool?? ---an example is Peanut Butter Breath Fast-Flower by Humboldt Seed Org, the parents strains are, according to them, Peanut Butter Breath x Eilte Auto OG which, again according to them, results in a faster flowering plant.

*the whole "fast flower" thing was explained to me as such; the benefit of it is an earlier start to OUTDOOR flowering season, that the whole "fast flower" part is of no benefit on an indoor grow.

Answer is if you use a photo type male twice you get photos.
My question is how can you call it a breeding project when you don’t have a clue what you are making?
It’s chucking you are doing.
Breeding usually has a goal in mind.

I mean as a course goal if you wanted big bomb auto in regs you could have hit a big bomb auto with gdp then taken a male from that cross and hit a big bomb auto again.
Then do that again and you would be getting close to making something.

Aye this is how sweet seeds etc do it like i said they all sell f1 fast versions thats why u dont see em selling f2 or f3 fast strains the f1 only

I have multiple projects going at once. This particular one I was actually experimenting with the Auto genetics and seeing if I can bring out some lost recessives, find nice phenos then mom them, see how photos breed with autos using male and female and crossing them different ways in different generations to see what I get. This auto project/chucking whatver you want to call it is more of an experiment with my end goal in mind being knowledge on how Auto and Photo genetics breed and their progeny. Im not trying to make auto seeds, that would be fairly easy.

Id say it it has merit if your growing sog and looking for the fastest turn around but the fast version will always be a lil less potent vs the photo version of the same strain and yield a lil less due to the ruderalis genes sure modern ones are more potent but there still a lil less vs photos ime Mind you you saving a week only in bloom with most of em some maybe two weeks earlier so unless max productions your goal or for outdoor in less ideal conditions id always just go for the full on photo for the potency the trade offs not worth it in most situations

if you follow Mendels Law the Auto xPhoto cross should result int 25% Auto, 25% Photo and a 50% mix of both parents.

I believe your likely hood of finding an auto in the Photo x A/P cross will be low, like 12%. If you are lucky enough to find and use a auto male from the original cross your % might be higher

Thank you thats what I was after. I got confused trying to figure it out with Mendells, thank you.
