Compact Closet Grower, need some questions answered please!

So I have all the materials to start growing, and currently have some seeds in the first process of germination. My grow "room" is actually a 3' tall cabinet with doors. I am planning on utilizing 2 120mm computer fans for intake, and 1 120mm fan for exhaust. Planning on adding a air duct air-freshener that attaches to air-filters for odor control. Was contemplating whether to buy a Carbon Filter or not and placing it right on the exhaust fan. I can fit a maximum of 3 plants in the cabinet comfortably (this is purely for personal growth).

My questions are as follows

1) I also USE the closest for my clothes and general storage, so will the odor cause my clothes to smell and cause mildew? I was thinking about having having the fans on 24/7 and using my personal fan (which is HUGE) every now and then. Should I seal off the grow area, separate from the rest of the closest? Any other odor/mildrew controls I could invest in?

2) I am only planning on growing three plants at once, and am very interested in HPS lights. However, is it necessary for me to buy a 400w system? Can't I just use 250w or even 150w HPS? Or is the output to low? The walls will be lined with mylar as well.

3) Despite the strain, (lets just assume I got a good strain growing), is it still possible to get good yields from plants maxed at 3' tall? From what I've read, it seems very productive, but I wanted to ask the question a bit more directly.

4) For lighting times, I plan on doing the normal 18/6 for veg and 12/12 for flowering, does it matter what time of day I chose to implement it? For example, can I do the 12hrs of light during the day, rather then night? Or is temperature a lot more difficult to handle?

5) Oh yes, almost forgot: I've read that smoking cigarettes in the grow room/area will definitely kill your plants! So I was curious if smoking green within the grow area's ventilation (aka the room), can cause it the plants harm? I need to know this 100% sure, because if that is the case, I'll have to start smoking elsewhere. haha.

That is about it. Thanks in advance!! Excited for my first grow here. :)

1. definitely seal off your grow area if you can. you should have the fan on 24/7 anyways just for air circulation.

2. for 3 plants a 250w hps would be great. a 150 would do but 250 is much better.

3. and yes very possible. if u learn how to top you can top the plant at 8 inches tall or so and then when your plants about 1.5 ft put it into flower.

4. you should implement your light schedule to best fit your schedule and your availability to be there to turn them on and off.

5. smoking green in the same room should be ok since your thing will be in a cabinet anyways. just dont go blowing your hit onto your plants because despite what some people think that is horrible for them. it causes the pores to clog on the leaves and they don't absorb as much light.

hope that helps. good luck!

Hey Vanslyke, thanks a bunch man. That helps quite a bit. Some of this information I have been searching for for days with little to no results. So thanks for clearing it up for me, I appreciate it. If anyone else has any additional info, that'd be great, thanks!

A 150W will do 2 plants. I'm running 2 150's. Just finished 3 plants and 1/2 through a pair of plants now (skinny closet, plants in a row.)

But you don't have room for 3 foot plants.
Pot about a foot.
Lamp and 'heat' buffer zone below bulb about a foot.

So you are down to about 1 foot plant.

Look into LST or ScrOG. Just plain growing won't cut it.
But it *can* be done.

Plant will about double in height when put into flowering.
