Commercial LED lights

Alright, school me here fellas. Came home from work and filled the wife in on some of the feedback and lights that you guys have recommended. She has apparently been looking through Amazon at some really cheap options like this:

https://www.amazon.com/BESTVA-1000W-Spectrum-Greenhouse-Hydroponic/dp/B01871AHTC

Please explain to me, so that I can explain to her, why that Amazon light is so much cheaper, and the difference in the end product between some of the higher end lights you all have recommended compared to a cheaper light.

Sorry for the stupid questions, but I am a noob when it comes to LED’s and I would like to be able to explain to her why a $128 LED will not be a good purchase.
Basically its a #'s game....

DIY fixtures and Commercial Fixtures, watt for watt are matching the output of useable light from HID and exceeding it in some cases, plus most usually have multiple choices in spectrum, akin to a bulb change I guess.... permanently :)

Slug based diodes which is 90% of Amazon/Ebay put out the output Comparable to a CFL.....No need to pay the $128 for a 90w CFL equivalent....plus none of them have any specs like PPF or PPFD, or Diodes used or Drivers used, nothing, basically Chinese hand me down garbage....DANGER.

All of the companies in this thread that have been listed will gladly show you all their data from diodes to drivers, everything, they want you to know, so you come back.

and not do this.....

@CobKits is probably the most current and competent member to explain a littler further, I hope you do B.

My argument to her is that if I’m going to try out LED’s and see how they stack up against HID’s, I want to give it a fair comparison. No sense in buying some cheap shit light, being disappointed with the results, and then writing off the technology based on that.

Fucking marriage. Everything is a negotiation.

How many square feet were you trying to flower for $128?

here is 43 days from seed, (yes, i labeled pic at 40, wrong day)
but still, thats a mars300. half the light went dead on me. I went thru and tested the diodes and found some of the resistors failed. When i make mine, Im running them on CV and controllable voltage to dim. That was important and wish i could do with my modded mars.

i put foil around the light to direct it more straight down, and i had a par of 1100 at 36inches,lol. it was something outrageous,

Instead of buying the mini, I should of just bought 4 more mars300 and changed them like i did before, but dimming was needed.

I am gettin a tad pissy because I ordered it on monday, and i still dont have a dam tracking number. so thats kinda getting annoying. Im about to cancel it, and just build my diode light myself to be honest.
You have chosen wisely grasshopper!

and before someone skewers me on "they don't have any specs like PPF" , i mean radiometric data k.

Hee hee

All those companies make smaller lights too!

I like the Tasty 22? 3k/90Cri [200 watts?] as a single fixture will work in 3x3ish.......3-4 of those would rock a 1000w HID too

Simple light. COB, active cooling [fans]. On / off switch. Cool case. :)

Rahz is a member/owner and probably the most underrated imho.......

BESTVA 1000W Double Chips LED Grow Light
The 1000w is to fool people it's just a model #

- 100pcs Dual-Chip 10W Bridgelux/Epileds LEDs
- Avg. Power Draw: 185W
Indoor use only, not waterproof.

"The LED light appears to be cheaply Chinese made. The power switch is incredibly hard to click on and only half of the LED's worked. Just look at the other problems like this, best just spent the extra money and get a actual grow light."
