Color Changing Plants!

let me first preface this post by saying no one should aspire to have a plant that looks like the one in my picture. at first glance it may seem pretty, but if you look at a lot of the leaves it is apparent that this plant is suffering. i overcorrected a ph issue with liquid lime. i had never used liquid lime before so the ratios took some dialing in. my vegging plants should have a beter life than this poor bitch. this is a rocklock freebie about 5 weeks into flowering.

afgan kush, from seed this one afgan really stands out exspecially since i had moved it outdoors to deal with cold temps. Which further darken the trim leaves purple. Taste like the other afgans but with a sweeter kick which i had kept a clone

the funny thing about this picture is, all the surrounding plants are "purple" kush, from clone from a cali dispensary clone mother. I can't get that shit to turn purple to save my life. i gave up on it; i think it has to do with the fact that I'm all organic & can't get a true flush which is what seems to trigger the purpling in that strain... the purple kush, not the gremlin. you can't keep gremlin from turning purple... no chem ferts whatsoever.

Hey Noobgrower I know what you mean. Took a few clones of the PK before flowering...When you got the good strains you have to keep the cycle going!:eyesmoke:

bobby...I'm lucky to live in a cold climate because the low temps bring out a lot of color. Try leaving your window open at night might bring out some more purple.

See... that's what i thought too, but my night temps bottom out at 58 (!) as is, with a high of 77 during lights on. that's damn near a 20 degree fluctuation already! I let it ride like that to see if this PK would purple up for me & no dice! EVERYTHING ELSE in my garden purpled up, but not my "purple" kush... blue haze? purple. gremlin? super purple. hell, even the bagseed I had chillin over in the damn corner of the room turned purple! "Purple Kush"? green as all get out. I'm over trying.

You know, bobby, I was worried about my pk at first too. There was purple in the stems but that's about it. Then, about 5 wks into flower, the color started showing on the leaves. Within a few days it showed on the buds, too, but barely. It wasn't until we cut that the purple REALLY started to show, but it wasn't as intense as we thought it would be. We have had some random bagseeds that got MUCH crazier color than this pk, but still glad they turned out as nice as they did!

Just wondering, when you got the pk, was it a clone or from seed? Cause from what I understand you CAN'T get real pk from seed, only from clone. So if it was seed, maybe it wasn't really pk. If it was a clone, than it must be the most stubborn pk ever!
Either way, at least you ended up with some other purple bud, right? I'd say that's pretty nice!

To Smoky, Wooomb, and Moma....thanks for your posts! Love seeing that pretty purple bud! Keep em coming guys! +rep all around!

Yeah, see, that's the thing... I personally know the guy who drove to cali and back in a limo with 144 clones. His stuff from the same mother turns beautiful purple. everybody else he's turned on to cuttings gets purple... i know for a fact this dude wouldn't bullshit me, and besides, he gifted me with the babies so why would he lie? just to bum me out? doubt it. I still say it has something to do with the fact that I'm organic & we don't have to flush, as a true flush is impossible in organics.

I'm starting to wonder if we haven't cloned that trait out of it! I know that's not possible but i have seen some genetic drift from the characteristics of the mother plant in some strains before, but not this drastic; gotta be environmental, but I'm stumped as to what it is. and either way, the PK is my most crystally strain BY FAR! and the taste is phenomenal. so I'm not crying about it, just puzzled. my stems look like green & purple candy canes all through veg & it's not from a deficiency either; trust me! so i know it's the real deal; like i said, I'm stumped on this one...

Okay, just had a new plant show it's true color! lol....the strain is Bill Maher, which is an LA Confidential/Jack Herrer cross. Had no idea it would turn purple, but cold temps helped it along, so here it is!!
