colloidal silver not making balls!

Hey guys!

I have 3 strains (AK47, Maui Waui and an unknown) -- I've been trying to make feminized seeds out of each. So far it has been a fail. The first set of plants got silvered for over 40 days and only one of the three showed any signs of balls (and they were pretty small). This group was getting sprayed once a day with a 30PPM solution I made from "natural path 500PPM" silver I found on Amazon. A few weeks in I also started spraying also with some silver I generated (I can never get my own silver over 20PPM).

So now I'm trying my second set of plants and I've gone to spraying twice a day. Once in the morning with a 50PPM solution made from "ultra colloidal silver 240PPM" (I read elsewhere that people had success with that), and at night with my home-grown 20PPM.

I'm getting really close to 21 days, and still no sign of balls. And I spray the crap out of them every time. One thing I've noticed is there is very little stress showing on the plants. They are just flowering like normal and look pretty healthy! Every journal I've read says their plants look sickly due to the stress from the silver.

Does anyone have any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

i read in a breeders journal the way reputbale seed banks produce fem seeds is by herm plants now i dont know how true or false that is but kinda does make a lil sense to me

What Are Feminized Marijuana Seeds?

Feminized marijuana seeds are seeds that only produce female marijuana plants. But there are some misconceptions about marijuana, feminized marijuana seeds and hermaphrodites (plants that display intersexuality) which should be addressed. Unlike more complex organisms, marijuana is not firmly one sex or the other. It’s a very unusual plant in that it’s an annual plant that is also dioeciously (producing separate male and female flowers on different plants), but every marijuana plant has the ability to produce flowers of the opposite sex under certain circumstances.
It’s a survival mechanism for the species, allowing marijuana to succeed and reproduce while being both annual and dioeciously. There are marijuana plants that become intersexual quite easy, in response to stress in the growing environment such as temperature fluctuations, irregularity, physical damage, light cycle, etc. This is a survival response – the marijuana plant detects that growing conditions are not favorable, which means that its chances of reproduction lower. Poor conditions mean that a marijuana plant is less likely to survive the complete season, and also that there’s less chance a marijuana plant of the opposite sex is close enough to pollinate it. In these conditions, some female marijuana plants will grow staminate flowers (which are male) in order to produce their own pollen, fertilize their own pistil flowers (female) and produce seeds which will grow again the following season. Male marijuana plants will sometimes grow pistil flowers, but this is less common.
Early feminized marijuana seeds usually were made with two female marijuana plants, one of which had been identified as having hermaphrodite tendencies, i.e. prone to produce male marijuana flowers when it was stressed. The intersexual-prone marijuana plant would be stressed with light cycle interruption or pruning and encouraged to produce male marijuana flowers, the pollen from which would be applied to the ‘true’ female (i.e. a plant that did not easily display intersexuality when stressed). The downside of this method was that the female marijuana ‘pollen donors’ were individuals which had quite a strong tendency to turn intersexual, and that this tendency was very likely to be inherited by the feminized seeds produced in this way.
Using different forms of silver (read how to make feminized marijuana seeds with colloidal silver here), female marijuana plants with a very minor tendency to turn intersexual – plants that would stay female even in harsh, irregular, stressful conditions – could be forced to produce male marijuana flowers. This means that their offspring have no more tendency that a normal female marijuana plant to turn intersexual. The feminized strains sold by I Love Growing Marijuana are produced in this way. In short, intersexuality is a fundamental part of the marijuana genome. Each individual marijuana plant simply has a greater or lesser tendency to turn hermaphrodite, in response to different conditions. In addition, the marijuana plants used to make feminized marijuana seeds are definitely not genetically modified! No genes are added or removed. If anything, the parent marijuana plants are physically modified through the use of silver and the seeds are produced in the usual way, through pollination.
Will all plants grown from feminized marijuana seeds be female?
All marijuana plants grown from the feminized strains sold in our marijuana seed shop will be genetically female. An often heard argument in regards to feminized marijuana seeds is the problem of hermaphrodites. In the early days of feminized marijuana seeds this might have happened but nowadays hermaphrodites are very rare. All feminized marijuana seeds sold in our webshop are as stable as regular marijuana seeds. New feminizing techniques and an intensive, multi-stage breeding programs make sure that today’s feminized marijuana seeds are 100% stable, consistent and very productive.

breeders don't use hermies plants to make fem seeds. if that's the case, my last 2 runs I would have TONS of seeds from 2 massive hermied plants,

it was a method used like i said!!! its not done like that now a days but it was done this way back in the day before they reached new ways on getting fems heres what i read up on

You should learn reading comprehension before you start arguments with folks who know better. Please reread the section underlined and in bold print and then tell me again how reputable breeders use hermaphrodites to make feminized seed. FYI it is done chemically with colloidal silver, that would be the "new feminizing techniques. The "multi-stage breeding program" is to ensure NO hermaphroditic genes are present. That's what reputable breeders do. :fire:

In my experience, dont ever try saving a buck, when it comes to growing. You spend so much time and other expenses, it just isnt worth it. Spend the few extra dollers and buy Tiresias mist. It is a a good investment and works everytime.

I tried doing what you did once, and ended up wasting a lot of time and some money. Same results, did not work. Using clones from the same mother a month later, i used tiresias mist with 100% success

like i said lol not trying to be a dick but u didnt comprehend me i guess all i said is that i read that they used to !!!!!!!!! USED to get fem seeds till new ways were developed and i didnt state it as a fact if you read my post threw in stead of jumping down my throat like a cocky know it all , u would have read the part were i said "not sure how true or false it is" i personally dont care cuz i grow i dont breed so there for i dont care lol

I asked for a citation and you provided one that showed what you said to be false. Punctuation and spellcheck are great tools to use if you are trying to make a cohesive argument as well as reading comprehension. You are the idiot who said "i read in a breeders journal the way reputbale seed banks produce fem seeds is by herm plants now i dont know how true or false that is but kinda does make a lil sense to me"

Again reputable breeders DON"T produce fem seeds with herm plants and IT WAS NOT stated in the journal you posted. And you are the one who thought is made sense. I would be curious to see some pics of your grow, mine are here for the looking if you'd like. :weed:

I believe the point that @CaretakerDad is trying to make is that someone that is having an issue came and asked for help. You, as you have stated, have no knowledge of making Fem seeds, yet you choose to respond to the OP, giving false information that could possible steer the OP in the wrong direction.

We all come here with one goal, and that is growing the plant we love. You are a New member so my advice to you is that IF you can actualy contribute and help someone by sharing your own experiences, then please do. But if you dont know the answer, dont steer someone in the wrong direction by giving a advice on a subject that you have no experience with....

Ignore this, there are helpful people here, you'll find them if you stick around. (Daddy issues?:P)

Take that article with a grain of salt- everything breeders do is based on hypothesis and experience; it's not entirely known what causes sexing in plants. http://www.nature.com/hdy/journal/v88/n2/full/6800016a.html

Thanks for the tip -- I'm definitely not trying to save a buck, it's already been a large investment. All the journals and guides I have read use silver. Whats in Tiresias?

I have some questions regarding your colloidal silver making. Here are some tips that may help. Only use distilled water, it has been vaporized to leave all impurities behind. Impurities of any kind will produce byproducts that will affect PPM. Only use .9999 silver, I get mine in 14 gage wire from the jeweler for about $20 a foot (?). Again impurities in lesser grade silver will affect PPM. Use a proper power source. I bought a 30v adjustable transformer for about $50 off of eBay. You can use (3) 9 volt batteries hooked up in series as a substitute if you need to. Put your Mason Jar (covered in black tape), with your silver and distilled water in it, on a coffee warmer as it will speed up the process considerably. Run your finished solution through a coffee filter and cool it to room temperature before taking your PPM reading. Make sure that you have a reliable PPM meter and always keep your finished solution covered completely (a spray bottle covered in black tape works fine) and stored in a cool, dark space. Good Luck and if you still have trouble, switch to the Tiresias, I have not used it myself but have heard many good things about its efficacy. :weed:

how did what i post prove to be false when it clearly states that EARLY feminized seeds usually were made with two female plants and one of wich was a known herm????? to me thats makes what i said true right? at sum point there was a herm used to produce the femenized seed obv since then advances in science and all found ways to eliminate the herm tendencies out of the gene pool ! i know herms arent used in this day and age to get fem seed but at some point in the line they were and thats all i was trying to say i read !!! didnt wana b disrespectful cuz im far from a dick head but respect in my eyes has to be given before recieved and goes both ways but yea il post pics of my grow when i get out of work
