Another couple crosses. I used some of the pollen from the Durban/PCK F2 male on a Purple Paro Valley. I also did a couple small branches with some Old Timers Haze. I'm working on a bunch of stuff. Some is looking really good. It just takes time to work it. It's not an overnight process. But it's the reason I grow.
Still working the Durban/PCK. These are what came out when I shook over a tray. These are F3 seeds. Durban + Pakistani Citral Kush green pheno. There's a ton more seeds in the buds. The purple/red pheno still showed up in about 20% of the last run. It will probably always be there.
I'm going to get some of these going in about a week. I'm hoping for some stability.

And somehow funny to see how popular a strain i know from my smoking beginnings (the Durban Poison) is getting so hyped again.

The creative and motivating high of the sativas is gaining popularity. I went and broke my foot costing me my job so I've been dealing with a setback. That was after my landlord sold the rental I was in so I'm on the long road back. I still have all of the same plans though.

i know what you mean. Had some issues myself but could keep most of the strains for about 15 years now. You´re so right. It´s something different than hitting a pure or mostly indica taking you to sleep.

The F3 Durbistans were all pretty much uniform. But I did start with 2 IBL's so that's expected. I have some F4's going on my way to F5's. Hard to believe it's been over 2 years I've been working on this.
Here's the F3 Durbistan in flower. Dense solid bud. 8-9 weeks flowering. Should finish outdoors here in the PNW by early - mid October.

Back in '99 I smoked Hawaiian Sativa for the first and last time. The original breeders, Federation Seeds, went off grid before I could get any and don't have it anymore now that they're back. It was such an incredible lemon flavor that I'd look for it every so often. I found an old thread from a grower in Europe that was keeping seeds going but that didn't go anywhere. Then I did a search for it on IG. I found a breeder that had it. Not just that but he's local to me and was given the seeds from a bc grower who's been keeping the strain alive under the agreement that he share them so he sent me a pack for free.

Looking very uniform indeed! Except the little guy at the end...could just be location in relation to lighting.
Durbistan...I like the name.

Is she potent? Potent enough for me. It may not be 30% THC but it's probably in the low 20's or so. I've not had any tested. The test results that ACE did on the PCK showed a THC level of 17.36% and the Durban can be 20 - 25%. I chose these 2 due to the short flowering time both have and I wanted a hybrid so I picked the PCK for the indica and Durban for the sativa.

Here's another cross I'm playing with. An RSC landrace Mazar-I-Sharif female + Durbistan F3 male. I started 2 of those F1's and got a male and a female. The reason they're so small is because I was going to grow them outside but then decided to grow something else so I tossed these in the flower tent and the male was shooting balls in about 10 days and the female is showing pistils after 2 weeks. They had also been outside and the temps were pretty low so they just didn't grow very much. But I'll be able to get some F2 seeds.

Haven't updated this thread for awhile.
A couple F5's of the Durbistan. I'm pretty sure both of these are females. The males seem to be taller early on with this cross and are fairly easy to identify after a few weeks. It was a 50/50 split with these.
Here's a couple F2's of the Durbistan F3 + Mazar I Sharif
Some of the leaves got a little messed up as I sprayed them early on with an organic pesticide I've been working on. I obviously still need more testing with concentration strength. But it is another work in progress and I have to test it on live plants.
I've also made a cross of an Afghani + Ethiopian.
I had a terrible grow with the Ethiopian. For some dumb reason I started them not thinking about summer coming up and the temps I would have to deal with indoors in the garage. Then family issues and other things and they got neglected. I was still able to make reproduction seeds from a 5 pack of regulars which was my primary goal.
Here's the Ethiopian before they went south. It still turned out to be some decent smoke. Not super potent by any means but a nice light sativa high perfect for morning to take the edge off but not too strong as to make you lazy. High in THCV. I ended up with 4 females and 1 male but I would have preferred 2 males and used both for pollination. There were obviously 2 pheno's. The stretchy ones on the right and the 2 on the left with a much more modest stretch. I chose to pollinate one of those.

Durbistan F5. I was trying to get the green pheno to be predominate. 8 out of 10 plants were green and not purple so I think I accomplished that. This is the female I pollinated with another green pheno male. These seeds will be F6 so I'll see what the ratios of green / purple are but I'm pretty confident that they'll be the same. This is likely the first and last project that I'll take this far. 3 years and I'm still not done but I do have my own IBL so I'm happy about that. It's fast flowering, frosty as hell, and smells divine. It has a compact christmas tree structure and bud all along any branches. Exactly what I was trying to achieve. I still can't believe that it's been 3 years since I started this project. A sativa/ indica hybrid.
One more run of these seeds and I'm done and have something that I consider worthy of calling my own. This appears to be fast flowering and perfect for outdoors here in the Pacific Northwest.
These photos were taken at 5 weeks. So well advanced in flowering and good potential for finishing outdoors. I used the quickest flowering plants for breeding.

I'm transitioning from coco and synthetic nutes to organic soil grows so I have been experiencing some nutrient issues as I get everything dialed in which is the cause of the early yellowing leaves. But these photos are 5 weeks from flipping to 12/12 as well.
One more run of these seeds and I'm done and have something that I consider worthy of calling my own. This appears to be fast flowering and perfect for outdoors here in the Pacific Northwest.

Did I never respond to this? It's been awhile, obviously. I've had a few set backs snd fell off the map for awhile there but I'm just about to start up a new nursery. And yes, I'm in Oregon. I just scored
