Cola development 2 weeks into flower!!

I'm growing 4 plants under a 125w CFL, and after just 14 days at 12/12, already the main cola and the smaller pop corn cola's are starting to take shape nicely, which to me seems very quick (not that I am complaining!).

This is only my second grow, and my first from seed. When I had a less then successful grow with clones earlier in the year I don't think that I even had any (or maybe little) sign of sexing by now.

Does this mean I should be looking forward to a more successful harvest this time??

Thanks for any advice!!!

Is it the same strain as the clones? Any pics? I would think that that would b a good sign! The sooner they develop, the sooner they mature, I would assume, are u running hydro/soil? What's ur. Nutes? Give us the run down!

Oh and I never got confirmation of the clones origin, so I guess that could have played a part.

I did make a whole load of mistakes, went away and researched, and with essentially the same set up, am getting such better results.... can't wait till it's crunch time!!!

Sorry, the run down, bit scatty tonight :)

4 x AK48 in second week flower under 125w 2700k CFL (8 weeks from seed through veg)
Organic soil in 11 litre buckets
BioBizz Nutes - Bio-Grow and Bio - Bloom... both seem to have low NPK's but are suggested for every watering
No air extraction yet!!

That looks quite good for just that one CFL.
Thankyou, its a result of keeping it just above the plants, and moving it every 24 hours. I have some CFL side lighting ready, but need to sort out air extraction before I add any more heat sources.

Ya man, keep em as short as possible and watch out for stretching. They are starting to get kinda tall for that light source for what you'll get on your finished product.

Yeah I know, vegged a little too long . I'm gonna try LST with the clones i took.

With these 4, I am gonna trim the lower branches at the weekend to give them a lolly pop shape, and next week the side lighting should go on, at the perfect height, and an extra 3000 lumens each side :)

Still think I will get a respectable result for my first "educated" grow :)

Be careful with that trimming too meng. A lot of peeps get crazy with the scissors, then wind up starving out their plants later on. Keep em' green!

Plants look very healthy for 1 CFL. Since you are going into flowering, try and get more light in there, but as you said, you need to work out your exhaust first. I am planning on growing AK-48 for my next grow. Keep me updated with your grow. I would love to see them in full flower. Sub'd to this thread.

Ur plants lookd real good! I don't cut my plants, at all, maybe a dead leaf, but no topping or none of that! LST iis the way to go, and it looks like u have a perfect pheno for LsT, I would start bending those clones as soon as u think they can handle it, and as much, and I would add that side lighting like yesterday, but u have a awesome low heat grow going! But don't cut her, just let her grow!

Thanks!! :) Think you are the first to sub to any of my threads. I will endeavour to get some updated pics this weekend, and hopefully get the extra light and exhaust on next week. I imagine you're a HPS grower, and if I can get decent results with my CFL's, you'll be in for a treat.

Can I say, AK-48 seem very hardy, and forgiving. I had a less then succesfull clone grow before this, and i've had no problems with these at any point in the grow, always been lush and green. While I have gained a lot of knowledge recently, I would like to give some of the credit to the strain itself.

Thanks for the compliments. I would rather not cut my plants, but as the CFL will not penetrate too far down, I really think trimming some lower stems seem beneficial. I know that there are mixed views on this. Maybe i'll trim 2, and leave 2, and either way, I won't go mad :)

The clones are at about 3 inches, and am doing some reading up on LST before I brave it. Luckily I have too many clones, as I anticipated a 50% survival rate, but they all have. What a dilemma, more plants then I can use lol :)

Lollipopping is usually for SOG on clones, it's definately not recommended for 2 plants under a CFL, you'd be completly wasting your time cos only the very top of the plant will get any light.

With CFLs you should be topping/LSTing to try keep your canopy as low and as flat/even as possible.

Hope this helps.

Hello again my fellow growers!! Sorry for the gaps between my updates, I work 2 part time jobs equalling 40-50 hours per week, a full time University course, and have a grow room, a wife, and 2 dogs to keep happy...

These pics were taken a couple of weeks ago, and while I do now have an extractor fan for the grow room, a recent heat wave has meant that the side lights still aren't on!!! Roll on winter!!! Hopefully they will be on in the next few days, and continue for the last 4 weeks of flower.

Sorry for my piss-poor photography

There has been little more to report on the plants, they just seem to be growing along quite happily. One showed signs of slight nute burn on the tips of some leaves (coincidentally this was the one plant that seemed to be from a weaker pheno, and slightly slower at growing)

I'm about to order some kind of Cal/Mag boost and some molasses for my babies next feed.

hope you are all well :)

Beware of strains like that... i've had lots and none of them have ever been very potent.

where are the colas?

I know the pics are unclear, but are the cola's not the "balls of hair" type things growing at the top of the plant and at the node points? I know they are not massive yet, but had nothing like it at the same time with my first grow.

Have I just made a "school boy error" and used the wrong terminology??
