Yea salt and metals don't have the best relationship, but like growing it takes time to develop. I've seen those metal coffee cans go years before deteriorating fully so in my opinion I think you are going to be ok for a short veg. Don't take my word for it though. Perhaps someone with some actual experience using these things will chime in.

Why introduce something like a 12 oz metal coffee can when u can get a 12 oz styrofoam cup or dixie cup for a few cents? On a side note, why transplant a mini hempy? Put em directly in the final bucket n u might waste a few bucks in nutes but ul save a week or so on ur total grow time. I germ in 3x3 rockwool cubes n put em under cfl's for 1 week n then its into 3.5 gallon perlite hempys under a 600 for 3 more weeks before flip. Works great n I only have to wait for the roots to hit the bottom once. Just sayin

I grew a morning glory in a metal coffee can in straight perlight hempy style it did fine on just maxsea........for cannabis I would just have to use plastic coffee container though idk just would make my ocd go nuts for some reason.

Edit: it was vermiculite perlite mix per original hempy instructions.

Man..really thankful of the replies..I feel pretty stupid not thinking of the bigger styrofoam cups!..and I like the rockwool>finalpot idea..much thanx to you all.

Don't ditch the idea totally for me the coffee containers are the cheapest pot ever........Imean Ihave to have my coffee so Ijust save them Icurrently have 25 of them.....plastic tho.....just save em up and give it a shot someday.

Jbone is right about the transplant deal a hempy would be a biatch to transplant.....I use homer buckets from home depot....they're 3 bucks.....and the big coffee "cans"....free(kinda).....welcome to hempy growin its kinda badass.

Yea im loving this hempy world..these 2 girls I just put into flower hempy style are blowing the promix farts away!..The mothers are actually still in some red solo cups and they're about 8-10" tall and i just thought to maybe give them a bigger home just for some time more..thats why I asked about the coffee cans!
would love to post pics but the strip club isnt open until tonight

That's cool as fuck dude I'm in a med state but have already built some led cabs Ican take back home....the cabs are cool for vegging out babies in the flower room too means i don't need a veg room.

yea i got a dual chamber set up Veg/FLower chamber..its pretty nice..came with fans and filters etc..literally everything
..ill post some pics shortly..wont mind you helping with the current hempy grow i have in progress also!..like i said my girls in promix suffered their whole grow..I was pretty baffled to diagnosing it..didnt understand the feeding thing too well at the beginning of grow..but damage was done and they're still doing what they do! but never again with any mediums other than "hempy" style

ok so........................im pretty sure this is what happened to the last "promix" group and I ignored it...would this be a sign of her having a Mg problem? Im not running any CalMag supplements..So if it is Mg def...should I just hit her some epsom salt on the next watering? hm thnx

I am fairly new to hempys last run I am pretty sure I had ph problems forgot to lower it for hydro I was putting 7.3 tap water in really fugged that up....but made it to harv ok.....as for the epsom Idk I can tell you if you're iffy about it your can foliar feed epsom salts I do once in a while my next hempy run is going to be straight maxsea and epsom salts mixed in so we'll see....I thought about molasses too unsure the cal/mg will be sufficient for the hempy hydro.....I am no nute guru for sure.

First thing I would do personally with that leaf in the pic is flip it over and check the underside for bugs real real close....wish I could help more.

Thanks for the input anyway you put it guru or not...I THINK I'm pretty sure it isn't pest/bug/mite problems...but I think I've read somewhere that those yellow blotches or "rust spots"?! Might just be the start of a def...hopefully someone sees it and helps out lol

I ended up having ph problems and rust spots.....the spots were only on the veins though....I've also had a mg problem in my current veg....it showed up as yellowing between the veins on the leaves....

Ahhhh...I see...then it might just be the ph being high also then ...because I am using cistern water which itself is just collected rain water..and the ph is usually ~8.0 or 7.8 kinda ...so I'll start lowering a bit more ...thought it was lower already after adding my "ph perfect" AN base <<lol...but thanks...I'll just take the lazy out and get it right from now on ...I'll post pics of the box for ya in a few with the other girls in the hempy bucket..they look flawless SO FAR

You got a meter? I just use the dropper kit my nutes are just maxsea its fuggin hard to tell cause its green already wish I had a ph pen santa was not good to me this year lol

I never thought much of ph myself come to find out all those years growing in the mountains in soil my well water was PH6.0.....ppm was like 70...now I just use the grocery store machine....ph7.0 when I bottle it and it drops to 6.5 for some reason all on its own in a week or so.....ppm is 0 lol good stuff.

Yea got a nice Ph Pen off ebay..BlueLab Ph Pen..this first grow was probably suckered by my negligence..and also first time using Advanced Nutrients Hobby Bundle..so since i got it i assumed my ph would be ideal..even if i didnt run at "bottle recommended dosage" ..so lets put it this way..I usually fix a 2gal bucket of water when watering...and i somehow burnt my girls with only 7ml each of the base nutes!@$@ so i eventually backed off a whole lot more..to like 5ml each of the base >2gal bucket..so now its as if they're underfed now lol..i just think its the promix now being off with the ph and all...doesnt matter tho..not doing this again..only hempy..and for some reason so far the hempy girls are performing..leaves are even bigger than the sister clones in promix!IMG_1454.jpgIMG_1684.jpgIMG_3998.jpg

I would check that runoff....never used promix but I had some Happy Frog fall off once in like week 6....runoff was 4.0-4.5 not cool.....my fault I didn't lime the dirt...I reckon the peat broke down and caused the soil to go acidic, made it to harv but I am sure it affected yield....that shit looks great tho bravissimo.

lol thats exactly where im at..6wks in ..i can care less about yield at this point...just worried about my hempy girls now...and trying to be preventative this time around...thats why i asked about the rusty leaf right away..so now i rather ask the been there done that people than play stubborn and ignore it.
but the rust thing is actually only on one of the solo hempy cup girls View attachment 2948377
