Coco pot size

Well that's a lot of veg time. Go up if you wana play it safe. Even with the one litre per week rule your within the limits but shit If I were putting that amount of time into a plant I would want to play safe. You really did mean trees ey!! Looking forward to seeing those when that time comes!

I use to do a 8-12 week veg from rooted cut. Flowered in garbage cans of ocean forest. Haven't grown trees in years but I miss it. It's where I started n finally going back to it. Just never used Coco until now. N i hate buying all that soil, n its a mess. Just hope these pot sizes of coir dont screw stuff up. I use to pull 20-24 zips per light doing 1 plant each. So hopefully I can do much better now.

Think 15 gallon rope totes are too big? In soil they were too small for me.

Why mix coir with perlite? I've grown in 2 gallon pots of 100% coir with good results. Yield may have been better in a 5 gallon pot, but I was happy with 2 zips from 2 gallons.

THIS guy's uses to 20-24 zips per plant..

Well the smaller the more watering see this plant i waterd everyday.i used ro water with 005 ppms what i did was 100ish ppms of calmag 600ppm of basenutes everyday alot of mini flushes too tryn clean salts out. No not that easy after years of growing i see people still not have anything to tell about well these here i grew buddy currentlymostly dwc now thought thatd be easier hahaha wrong my buckets are about empty every day too lol.
I did start using like 5gal pals but its a trick let the coco dry out like soil a few times at 1st transplant do a heavy watering then almost go a week with out touching it then bingo soon b on a wet n dry cycle every 3 days.
You dont need ro water or a meter but to get to 600 ppms il help u eyeball it 4ml gh mico and 8ml gh bloom i only use a ml or 2 of cal mg

I just got another caregiver switched to coco shes on a 1ml calmg 3ml micro and 6ml bloom. And shits exploding a good recipe yea u might need higher ppms with more light but i say less is better. Its up to u how oftendo u want to water?

Some still tend to over water say cuttings n small ones it helps break a noob in once u got a grasp on it it just is causing more work.

That wasn't my question. I wanted to know how small of a pot can I do without loss of flowers. I usually do 1 plant per light in 20 gal of ocean forest. But using Coco could I get away with a 5,7,10 gallon pot? I avg 20_24 oz plant in 20 gallon containers under 1000w.

Well from experience you can drop pot size from soil and still get same results say u use 20gal most likely12gal pots of coco give u the same results but yea it will dry out faster but u got that down and u i am growing eith people on alot smaller scale lol but have run ocean forest coco dwc got 5 plus years experience still can learn things always reading crap good luck

Week 8 veg, just went from 2 gallon pots to 7 gallon pots, still got another 8-10 weeks before I can flower. Ill check them and see if they need 15 gallon rope totes. #trees #12plants #12lights

Nice holy 8 more weeks still to veg??? Well um if hieght is not a issue yea u will want to upgrade maybe 15 gallon totes will be perfect in 4 or 5ish weeks give a few to let settle in before flowering just put into 7. You wanted to save a bit of medium maybe itll end up about 14gals total and there ya go u have saved a bit.

How's you're growth in veg in the coir compared to Fox Farms so far? Have any comparative pics to share? I would of loved to see a pic of the root structure when you transplanted.

From my experiments in coir, my best yielding strain put out about 2 to 2.25 ounces per gallon of root mass.
This in 1,2,3 and 5 gallon pots. Never tested anything larger and of course veg times where longer the more the pot size went up.

When I switched some 8 years ago from Ocean Forrest to coir I was able to cut 10 days off my veg time and produce around 14 grams more of product in 9 liter pots. Never looked back since, although I do use FF to amend my outdoor plants.

Anybody else think they look a bit high in Nitrogen?

They were a bit high but no toxicity. I usually feed 600ppm in veg of GH 3 part. I did notice a much lighter tone once they went in Coco. Probably because medium had no nutes except for calmag.

My roots are always white, fuzzy and busting everywhere. I use recharge. It's a great product. Better than hydrogaurd or great white.

I'll admit I'm very nervous about doing 2 gallon pots. I start flower this week. Wanna give a few more days for smaller girls to establish but there's a few that have gotten bigger than the rest, those are in 3 gals.

Already my opinion is I will never use soil again. Coco is much easier. However I used 1/2 Coco, 1/4 perlite and 1/4 hydroton. I think 1/3 each is good.

Growth rates are better also.

Now this is my first Coco and drip run, you guys use saucers or just let it drain?

Let it drain, when I fist started coir I was anal and checked run-off and the pH would come out around 5pH.

i don't like using hydroton with coco or perlite, it seems to drain worse, like the coco and perlite don't like to give up water to the hydroton.
i was growing in 2 gal smart pots with 75% coco 25% perlite, and getting decent results, then i stepped up to 3 gal pots, got a little better results, then i went to 7s, and about doubled the size and yield. i start in little cups, transfer to 2.5 qt pots for veg, then a week before flip, into the 7s, they take off like trees.
i use saucers with pebbles in them, so the plants are sitting up a little, keeps a little humidity in the flower tent without drowning any roots

I've grown in 100% coco coir & it worked great.

Someday i might cook up some super soil mixes lol but for most part with helping friends grow now we are tryn hammer um thru fastest as we can running most dwc now few coco plants the coco plants arnt as fast but once veggd a bit extra i think they r just better in quality of flowers over all easier no slime n rot n what not to battle, still running this cant confirm got that gg4 in few buckets bubbling and coco. Veging in back of the shed maybe 2x6 spot wide enough for the t5 blooming with a 1000 and a 1600 king led, we had a 600 and 400w going but switch to the old 1000.Coco does rock simple keep base nutes simple add bit cal mag here n there n a salt rinse very important after few months old been doing this years water with a gallon wait 10mins presoak come back with light ppms and flush it few more gallons they blow up after.they seem really green to been battling mites seems to be the season id say god i need rotate insectacides to even hurt um but we are happy nothing speicial not like when i had um in my closet and grow tent in my bedroom i took alot better care found out bigger grows are way harder then just a closet grow lol.

I used hydroton because i had 200 liters on hand so it was that or make a walkway to my pool with it lol...
I've found the 7 gals need 2 drippers or more. I like the ideas of beds also.

How big did you personally go in 7 gals? Im concerned 7 gals are too small. I was just going to check roots before I flower.
