Most municipal water companies use Chloramine now. That will not evaporate. You can find out if your water company uses it. If so, you do not need to let your water sit unless you want it to be room temp.

You can get a chlorine filter, but results vary.
RO filters are cheap.
You can also buy vitamin C powder (very cheap) and add a 1/4 tsp per gallon to remove chloramines. I definitely think RO is the way to go though, if you can swing it.

Please Help!!!!

Hi guys, I've got a big problem due to a faulty ph pen and I was watering my plants with solution at ph 4.8. young leaves started to turn yellow.Since then I bought a new ph pen, and I have been watering with solution ph 5.8. after 3 days i do not see any improvement. should i flush the plant or they will recover if I keep watering with solution at ph 5.8.

Growing in 100% canna coco
watering at EC 1.4 every 2days
600w hps light at about 20" from top of plants.
strain blue cheese
1 week since light is on 12/12
I would flush.

Sorry to hear that, I have had the same problems with cheap and expensive ph testers.
I use the drip tester that I used to use to calibrate my ph testers with. (piss yellow, no green, no orange, is 5.8)

A flush couldn't really hurt. Maybe try flushing with 25% strength nutes?

How is it that you only have to water every 2 days? If I used smaller pots, I would have to water twice a day.

This is my first grow so I don't really know if I should water more often, but there's no sign of under-watering. they are still small plants though, clone direct to 12/12 (around 9" tall). And thanks for the advice, I will try to flush them as you suggested.

Depends on what stage I'm in, but even middle of flower I usually only have to water my 5g smart pots every 2-4 days. Now I've had mothers in 1g smart pots that I had to water every day (and I eventually killed by skipping two days when I was gone over the weekend).

I wait until the pots feel light to water.

Any of you guys doing Feed, Water, Feed schedule? I dropped my nutes down to 800-100ppm in flower from 1200-1400ppm and feed everytime. Plants are doing way better and getting bigger.

woah. many different opinions.. heres another...

i use 70/30 bcuz coco/roots organic coco. feed/sugars and carbs/water/feed.
dynagro protekt, gro, bloom, botanicare calmag+, sweet raw, gh koolbloom, dry, florablend, flora+ and hygrozyme.

ro water, calmag+ in every watering/feeding at 6ml.
water frequency depends on container size and time in flower/veg. but, average everyday/every other day.

it is my belief that less is more. feeding everyday imo will just make the flush longer and a waste of nutrients. the plant can only use so much. and they love the air from not watering everyday(especially in fabric pots you actually can see air bubbles on top of the coco)
just my 2 cents.

iv heard rumblings about a new calmag infused coco ? anyone know anything about this? or is it just 'talk'

i have a question to ask, for the moment im using the coco variation of the lucas formula with a tsp of epsom salts with every feeding (usually every few days been waiting about 6), this is during veg only, i will be switching to dutch pro a+b for flower.

will i need a cal mag supplement using coco specific nutes or will they already include this, only reason im asking is because i cant find anywhere local that sells calmag so i will need to find somewhere online.

calmag does what epsom salts do

every day???? mine dont even need water for 3-4 days. they would definitely be overwatered if fed every day.

It is very hard to over water with coco. It is basically inert.
I water until the tray has a couple inches of water, then repeat the next day. I feed every time.

You can and I definitely have overwatered in Coco. Watering your plants daily is completely unnecessary. I water fully until I get a decent runoff. Then water again in 3-5 days depending on how the plants are drinking. I dropped the amount i feed now to 400ppm in veg and 800ppm in flower. Im doing a Feed, Water,Feed schedule and I think my plants are definitely growing bigger buds, faster.

If the plants are drinking the water/nutes and I have perfect white roots and not too green growth, why would I deprive the plant of water and nutes?

No offense intended, but this comment holds no merit considering genetics, plant size and container size are directly correlated to watering frequency and nutrient uptake. Just because its true for you does not mean its true for everyone, because nothing is standardized about growing plants.

Having said that when I did use coco a little bit I definitely over watered my plants several times. But some people absolutely MUST water their plants every day if conditions require it.

I never said the opposite.

I said that when watering my plants they don't need water for up to 5 days. I don't water if the pots are heavy. Period. If your plants can drink a gallon of water in 24hrs, more power to ya!

I just stated my first coco recirc. This is a top feed drip system. Im using cns from botanicare veg and bloom. Florilicious plus greatwhite and hygrozyme. Plus a sweetener to feed my bbs. Currently ay 2weeks n bloom the ppm has been at 1000 since i plated in the 5 gallon smart pots. I planted at 12 inches. Strain is jack diesel my growth rates have been great. I water 2x a day for 15min. I think once a day for the first week may be better i had some wilting from ovrwatering only issue so far

pic of my ladies. i got alot of advice on this thread thanks everybody.View attachment 2395857 . additional info. i layered the coco cubes coir with the gh brick of pith.. lights are 600 w hps. starting height was 12" inches. today they are around 30" they are 12 days in flower. I am trying to only change the res one time when i go to bloom nutes. i put frozen one gallon jugs in my res to keep it cool and i have a huge commercial air pump keeps the water bubbling... ive had some drooping due to overwatering i assume other than that the growth rate has been super good. ill be planting another 20 tonight and ill show pics of how i layer the coco in my smart pots etc.View attachment 2395902View attachment 2395901View attachment 2395857
