Sure, I imagine with the lack of run off could be the problem. I dunno if drip clean could help remove any of those salts.

Were you doing all these things before? like letting the water sit for the chlorine to evaporate? Got to ph your water bro, come on you know that.

Ive always wondered this question myself. I would assume that chlorine kills, so when you water with chlorinated water I thought it might kill the beneficial bacteria in your medium. My first first coco grow I did 3 gallons distilled and 2 gallons tap ratio and fed the plants right after making the batch and had a perfect grow. I mean no lower leaves even turned yellow, stems stayed green and didn't turn purple. But obviously that can get pricey, so i bought a small boy hydro logic filter with the dechlorinater attachment. I mix up the same ratios and don't have a problem so maybe a diluted amount of chlorine may not be enough to kill your medium. But maybe using straight tap water and not letting it sit and feeding is having an effect. Also I heard using airstones speeds up the process of getting the chlorine out.

I would say your best bet is trying to do a low ppm flush with dechlorinated water with good run off and see what happens. I don't think it can hurt. gl dude.

Its not so much the chlorine in the tap water. I never used to Let my water sit out for the chlorine to evaporate and never had issues from that. But its the other contaminants that are possibly in the water such as fluoride and other things being dumped into the cities water supply. I've seen many of times on the news where water tests are being conducted and they are finding traces of prescription drugs, Barium, radeon etc... in city water.

I know a lot of people say how water is bad till the chlorine evaporates but IMO Its more of a myth after using straight tap for a long time. And when the water comes out of my tap its 7.8 PH @ 300+ ppm so its not the cleanest water.

I do believe though Zen is not watering enough to give out the runoff, thats the one thing about coco you cant play around with, watering/feeding properly is very important. When I was using coco I watered almost every day, back then it was more of a standard to water daily. Now I read ppl not watering for 3-5 days at a time and what not lol. But Zen you seriously need to flush out your plants till the runoff is clear, it salt is built up its gonna be a dirty color. Good rule of thumb is water till you get 10-15% runoff every watering/feeding. EVEN IF YOU DONT WANT TOO!!!!

Hey folks, I am on page 42 of this informative thread currently, but I was wondering if there was a summary, or general consensus on which Nutrient set up "Generally" produces more favorable yields?

I have Botanicare products that seem to work fine with my coco, but I see the canna line is pretty popular, any side by side comparisons that have results from Coco specific lines?

If it matters I have more Liquid Karma than I know what to do with, although I only saw 1 post I believe by jberry where some Botanicare and Canna nutrients were mixed.

actually i am a huge proponent of having a runoff its just that i wstrying a method that i had read up on about growing in coco and feeding just enough to soak it but with no run off. "NEWSFLASH"!!!!!!!!!!! It doesnt WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!
ive always been interested in tryin new methods of growing, i know that some are winners and some are losers. and ive never tried anything that was such a miserable failure like this one is. but you better believe i wont be trying it again....ever!

so I've never tried coco before but want to use it in a recirculating drip setup. so far i've read that coco chips or croutons are what i want to use. what i need to know is how much water they need and how many times a day should they be watered.I will be using 2 gal buckets and veg for about 2 weeks or a bit less. Also do i have to use coco specific nutes or will regular hydro nutes and cal/mag be ok.any advice would be great And no i havn't read this whole thread it like 200 pages long I did read a bunch tho

plant problem. ok im getting some kind of rust on my plant leaves. the problem is only at the tops of the plant. the problem started soon as i gave her, her first doze of pk 13/14 at 0.5ml per Liter. im using canna coco as soil, well this is how my mix was. 3.0ml of coco A&B, 2ml rhizotonic, 1ml cannazym and 0.5ml pk13/14 and 3 days later i seen all the rust on the leaves. at my next doze i wanted to put the pk at 1ml and the a and b at 2.5ml. but im not 100% its the pk that coused this problem but thats the only thing i did new and every thing was fine before that, here is a pic of the rust looking stuff on the leaves and bare in mind the problem is only at the tops of the plant, the bottem is fine its just started at the top, and please help as my watering is tomorow and i dont know if i should stop the pk13/13 or if there is any thing els im doing wrong.

Yo guys I bought some hydroton for my coco but I hear this is a bad mix. Could I still add a top layer of hydroton just for decoration? to make some use of it.. :/

Sure, a couple inches of Hydroton would not hurt. I put panda covers over my pots to stop light from hitting my coco, The Hydroton would do basically the same thing.

I would say that's a manganese deficiency...and you could very well kick down the Rhizotonic to 0.5 at this stage in the game...the roots should be well established by this time.

zen it looks like you have a calcium & magnesium def... and possibly iron as well which is easily caused by pH imbalances. You can foliar feed to fix the problem quicker but you should also up the ppm of your nutes when you water.

nas, looks like you have a mag def... again you can foliar to speed up the fix.

IMO Cannabis uses much more Mg then most nutrients contain and it seems like even the cannabis books dont seem to mention or be aware of this or maybe my observations are wrong but in my experience cannabis does much better with high levels of mag when growing indoors under intense lighting... especially when in bloom.

Cutting Edge Solutions seems to be doing some testing on cannabis and i noticed that they have raised the Mg on their feed chart from 2 mL per gal. up to 5 mL per gallon... they have great no thrills nutes fyi.

yes, you can use the mag-amped (1% Mg. & 4% Sulfer) in your feed water or as a foliar and i believe it also has some beneficial tree-saps and plant extracts... and as jeff said, epson salt is 10% magnesium and 13% sulfer and it would be just fine to use and cost a lot less at your local drug store.

hey NAS what up. that looks similar to what was going on with my babies, but mine was my own fault though. but hey look here, and this is just mt opinion ok, but i think that on your next run or two you should get a little experience just using your base nutes only(just the A&B) and then start introducing the additives. that way you can go through an entire run seeing the effects of just the A&B, get that dailed in first, and then learn how to correct whatever mistakes are made. then you introduce, lets say the PK 13/14. if you have more than two or three plants you can start the PK on one at three weeks, then another at four weeks, then another at five weeks. thats just to see when will be the best time to start the PK for that particular strain. thats just an example though. what im trying to say is, if youve got your base dailed in, youll be able to tell if the PK is the problem. also what week are you on, 3ml per liter is getting up there, the max is 4ml per liter. all through out my veg, which adds up to about six weeks, i only go as high as 1ml per liter. then when i put them out to flower i start a rise and fall type of schedule. this is just the way i do mine:
week #1 1.5ml per liter
week #2 2ml per liter
week #3 2.5ml per liter
week #4 3ml per liter
week #5 3.5-4ml per liter
week #6 3.5-4ml per liter
week #7 2-1ml per liter
week #8 1ml per liter
( I kinda like to stay on the low end)
thats what i got down first, then i started with the other products on run at a time. just so i could identify what each product does. but like i said, this is just my way, not "THE WAY". i apologize though, i got a little side tracked. as far as my issue i just bought some botanicare cal-mag and that seemed to stop the progression of the symptoms in the flowering plants. and in the ones vegging and my moms, all of the new leaves growing are looking just fine and the progression has also stopped in them too. i dont know if that will help you, but hey it was $20 bucks for a quart and it saved my entire vegging and flowering crop(which is over 100 plants). so i think $20 was a good trade. but thats what worked for me.

PEACE!!!
