you mean terra? if so i have never heard about anyone doing that and ive read the hole thread, but i would newer use it in coco when you have coco a and b who is design for it. of course it could work but maybe his exact strain can handle it but not another so in the long run i would use canna a and b.

Hey Bubbels,
Yeah you can make your clones right in the rockwool then when they get good roots just drop that right in the coco. That's what I do and it works great. Hope that helps man and good luck.

I'm redoing the room and switching to coco in a flood drain. i have some real height issues so heres the question, which do you think will be better, doing a SOG with 28 1 gallon plants in a 4x6 tray or to veg a week or two and use 2 gal pots. I only have 6'6 total room height so with lights hanging and the res/tray it leaves 38" from the top of a 2 gal pot to light. Also looking for recommdations on which type/brand of coco to use.

Im a new grower and im going to use CannaCoco... i need sum help... should i veg 24hr or 18/6?
some also use 20/4 i personaly use 24/0 but thats suits me personaly bacause i have to have acsess to the fusebox/water stop valve in the same room.
i probaly would go for 18/6 to save some Electricity if i could but thats me personaly either way you go it will wourk fine as long as they get a minimum of 18 houers ligth. good choice with medium and brand good luck

Alright guys! I have a question and need some help from everyone. I know I have read that you can use the Canna over and over, however, I am experiencing some problems lately. And when I compare to pots that are growing in new compared to old coco that has been re-used I notice a difference. The stuff that is reused more seems to develop some defficiencies that are very hard to pin down and remedy.
Has anyone else experienced this or have I forgotten something about the Cana losing it's buffering ability? What is some other past EXPERIENCE?
I never flush with plain tap and use Great White for the beneficial bacteria. So what do you all think?
BTW, It seems to be a sever Pottasium defficiency. Browning on lower leaves, severyly. No matter what i use.

i am quite new to coco but what i have read laetely is that people use it 2-3 times and i think thats cannas directions to but not sure.
jberry says he always use it no more than twice but when you say over and over how long is that?

I've grown in coco fiber for four years and have been using a 50/50 blend with perlite and cana for the last year or so. I found when I tried to just reuse it immediately that the plants always seemed to struggle in the beginning, I thought there was a possibility that there was still trace nutrients still locked in even though I do a ten day rinse. However for the cost as compared to the value of the crop if I can afford it I always start with fresh medium.

Bubbels,
I think you are right, now i remember somewher back he did say that. I appreciate anyone elses opinion too. But, it's weird in that it just with the coco that has been reused around 3 to 4, or more, times.
Good looking out bro

Willem,
Thanks for the input man. I hear ya. I haven't thought about the difference in letting the coco sit a bit before reuse. I do flush good with ph'd water. I have noticed that when I use the already used stuff with new seedlings or clones that they don't seem to take off as good. So I appreciate your comment and believe you are correct as well.
You are damn straight that the cost of new coco is nothing compared to the lost product. I have found that to be true in many aspects of the grow, in that, try to save a dollar costs you many more fold in yield!

Ah, great thread. Great sticky.

I have a quick question, I hear 75% coco coir 25% perlite is better then 100% coco coir. How much faster does a plant grow with 25% perlite mixed in? If you can give me a ratio compared to 100% coco that would be great! Maybe 10%faster/bigger? Or is it less then 10%?

i think its hard for people to tell, you may need do a side by side test for best comparison. but im quite new to this so advise i have been getting is to do some grows before i start changing the the medium. it will probaly drain much faster so you have to water more and thats a good thing. but thinking of using it as a top layer half a inch or so to prevent gnats. maybe not much help but hope that some of the proes come back to guide us.....
