<<Yes the medium does dry out a little more than with soil so mixing i wouldnt recommend either.>>
Sorry to drag up an old post but mixing coco with soil and perlite is an idea I’m tossing around for outdoor pots. I haven’t found much about it.
If coco dries out quickly and needs more fertilizer , wouldn’t mixing it with soil make a “less maintenance” medium?
Is this just a bad idea?
Attempting to grow inside. I have been unable to find any info on soil and coco mixed. Everyone seems to only want coco as a hydro mix. I started using the MG moisture control soil people don't seem to care for. I decided to try using a 50/50 coco coir and MG. I up canned from 6 inch to 1 gallon pots with this mix 4 days ago. I am beginning to worry. Pots are still heavy and quite moist. I did notice that once saturated excess water exits the pot quickly. Unlike the fast drying others have stated mine seems to be holding moisture a long time. Some lower leaves look slightly clawed but not bad. Overall plants look good, growing fine. It's just different so far. I am use to watering everyday but now after 4 days I am wondering what is happening to the roots. I am currently in 1 gallon pots for veg. In 2 weeks I will up can to 3 gallon pots for flower. As long as they continue to grow I will wait to see the roots when I change pots in a couple of weeks.
