I think the cob would be maybe 20 bucks ish, heatsink about the same, chip holder a few bucks. I think to get the driver and power cord it would cost a little more. Maybe 80 bucks to build?

As for the " Veros burn plants" idea.. maybe people should learn to set up their fixtures properly before spewing this crap all over the internet.
Cobs Are Cobs.. all of the current high quality Cobs that we use are about the same (Bridgelux, Cree, Citizen, Luminus, etc.). You'll see changes in spectrum and efficiency depending on which one you pick (3000k, 3500k, 80CRI, 90CRI, etc.) or how soft or hard that they're driven.
