CMH with 3100/4200k

I've settled on CMH lighting for my next indoor grow. I'm looking at some of the 630w/dual 315w units to light a 4x4 bloom tent and was wondering if there's any merit to using both 3100k and 4200k lamps to get a more varied spectrum. Is there anything that should prevent me from doing so?

I apologize if this has been asked or is posted in the wrong forum, I combed several CMH threads on here and other forums and came up blank. TIA

My first grow but i used the 4200k for veg n 3100k for flower

What I meant was one of each spectrum used simultaneously in a dual bulb unit

I'd use one of each for the whole grow. The more varied the spectrum the better as far as I'm concerned and most good light aim for that.

Found a real good article comparing different brands of those bulbs with all sorts of other tips and info you might want to look at to help you decide.

Philips used to make a 400W CMH bulb that ran off an HPS magnetic ballast. I have 3 of those ballasts but they don't make the bulbs any more. There are others but not ones I can pick up anywhere and I have good HPS bulbs already.

If I were in the market for new lights I'd sure go with the new CMH ones. The older CMH had a nice full spectrum too and could do the grow from start to finish.

Like these Hortilux Daylight Blue MH bulbs. I was reading one of my older High Times mags and the guy in the article was saying they are the bomb for start to finish. Look at the spectrum these put out.


Compared to the crappy PlantMax MH I bought a while ago for $60. Couldn't even find a pic of the spectrum online so had to take a pic of the one on the box. Not even a web address on the box so what does that say about them?

I use both spectrums, and have great results.
