I really think, although they'll deny it, that they've stopped production on the red suns until they've fixed the problem... loose end caps or whatever it may be. There are several people on the Profs thread (including myself) who have never had a problem with any bulb except the RedSun, I ordered 4 and two crapped out within a week... not a unique story.

However they're so unique that I dont really have a choice except to wait as long as needed. I only need 2 but Im getting 4 whenever I can.

Was thinking 2 Bluewave and 2 Reefwave for my veg/clone t5 panel? Would this combo be worth it? or maybe a different combo of light? Recently bought a 4ft 4 bulb T5 and looking to upgrade

2 of each in an 8 bulb? sure! But if only 4 total, you'll want to have no more than half of your bulbs Actinics (pure blue, reef/blue wave are both actinic) So one of each and 2 other full spectrum lights like a 6500k/FloraSun. Actinics do produce PAR useful light, but your plants need a balance of both blue and red with touches of color from inbetween to use as catalysts. If you have half 6500k's or FloraSuns, they will give enough of the other colors to balance out the blue of the actinics. If you have ALL blue you may get growth, but they will be very slow growing and may stall all-together or suffer from internal structural cell development issues, they may get all fucked up in other words :) Chlorophyll also needs to function properly with a tiny bit of cyan/green/yellow present which will help the photoreceptors absorb and utilize the proper blue/red

extra knowledge* :) Actinics are not blacklights (blacklights are filtered using "woods glass" I think its calld, filtered down to those wavelengths that cause fluorescence in neon colors) Actinics actually produce those wavelengths in the violet range that cause fluorescence, but dont appear as dark since they're a wider band of light including lighter indigo and blue. So dont use blacklights, or any other painted/colored party lights cuz they're just filtered and block most of the output.

Ive said it before, PARTY LIGHTS DONT GROW, AND GROW LIGHTS DONT PARTY (well, mine do!)

*** I know you didnt ask about blacklights lol, I ramble when im sleepy!

So what would you recommend in a 4 bulb fixture? for just veg and clones.. Maybe 2 6500k / 1 Bluewave / 1 reefwave. Srry all new to the aqaurium lights but like the idea of it. And especially if it help plant growth

Thats exactly what I used, until I upgraded the 6500k's to florasuns. but you'll be really impressed with the short/stocky growth vs HID... in 6" square pots, you can get 12 under a 4x4' up to about 10-12" tall before they're crowded, 6 upto about 14-16"tall, or 4 upto maybe 18" tall.

thats only 16 bucks if you already have some cheap 6500k's. I'd invest in a CoralWave also and maybe a few FloraSuns and save on shipping when you get them all at the same time... Then when you're ready to flower, if you use HID or another lighting system (you said T5 for veg/clones only) you can sit your T5 panel on its side and use it as supplementary side lighting, and you can give a boost of PAR blue/red(660) and IR to help induce flowering... ALL of which are lacking in MH/HPS bulbs, even the Horticultural HID bulbs only add blue, they dont have any quality RED

Definately appreciate the help. Man I just bought my T5 2 days ago. Haven't even put any plants under it as I am waiting for seeds in the mail and am already wanting to upgrade lol. Im greedy and want the best of the best.

Ya just using it for mothers / clones. Got a 250w HPS for flowering but always down the road maybe buy another panel and use it for supplementary light. Thanks a bunch man.
Will these lights will work in any T5 panel?

yup, as long as its not a NO normal output ballasted panel. I think they're only for commercial/office lighting. if you're not sure, divide its rated wattage by # of bulbs, should be 54. And dont put a HO bulb in a VHO fixture (you'll know if you have a VHO fixture cuz they're big$)

Thanks to petflora and ucc for all your help...........much appreciated
gonna play around a little with bulb adjustments.......as pet would say "its nice to play sun god"

be safe and happy growing as always.........

Edit....yeah petflora it was bendmc grow...man it even made a lot of hid growers consider it(t5) during the summer....man that was impressive, gonna read through it again...........

"PetFlora tried a relatively dense concentration of CoralWave bulbs - was it 1:4? Perhaps he will chime in with his thoughts".

I THINK 1/4 CWs should be fine. My issue turned out to be a bad pH meter probe. I was adding way too much acid and basically was burning my plant up from the inside out. The leaves were turning ash gray. At the time I wasn't sure why, and posited that it could be too much CW. 1/4 CWs should be beneficial during the last 2-4 weeks

The problem with reparation is lag time. I am fairly certain that the factory does runs of spectrums, and other bulbs were ahead of replacing the def run of Red Suns. Supposedly they will be arriving late this coming week- Armageddon willing

Yeah I'm gonna get a few of the ultra growth (ultra cola) bulbs, and yeah super blue is the blue wave. wavepoints are good for actinics, but their tri-band (color, tropic etc) are nothing special, use your free 6500ks instead and save some $

Thanks for the money saving tip.......so I should just replace two out of the eight with this super blue right?
Appreciate it...

I said 1/4 before, but I meant 1/2 of the total bulbs being actinic. If you got 8 cheap 6500ks, throw in one or two bluewaves and 1-2 reefwaves. You'll love it! Id go 2 of each if you have 8 total bulbs :)
