Club Quantum Board

A two by eight would be perfect. Though, no matter how you look at it, your most efficent square footage would be 16sqft for your lights. How you work that out is up to you and your space, but I wouldnt try to illuminate a section of a large tent. I understand wanting room to walk around but thats counter productive to the nature of tents and more importantly, how to get the most out of your great new lights. These qbs perform better than any other light when reflective walls are used close to the light so that anything boucing off it is actually usable to your plants. If having room to walk around is most important maybe put up reflective partition walls on wheels so when your working they can be moved. I would think about your tempertures in your basement during winter and summer and take into consideration these lights wont be warming your space like hids would have. I would throw this light in a 5x5 tent with a 4x4 scrog net and go crazy.

So ive decided to build a second flower room.

My current is 42 wide 32 deep with four QB 304s.

Im going to take those 304s and use them in a bigger space, but i cant decide how big of a space.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but 5x5 seems to be the max/optimal footprint for this number of QBs but wondering what yall think?

I could possibly do a larger room, maybe 8x8 and give myself a lil room to squeeze around? I could even do something 10x10 but that seems like a lot for just 4 Quantum board 304s

Or i could do a rectangular grow like a 3' x 7' or a 2' x 8'

Thoughts?

The area is corner of a concrete basement. So its a matter of how i frame it. Back wall and right wall will be concrete.
In MHO I would build it as large as I could regardless of what the lights will cover, as long as you can control the temps inside. You can always buy more lights later, if you choose, and expanding a room is a pain. I'm growing 3 plants in a 6X6 room right now with plans to go to 6 plants. It is nice to have the room to move things around.

You can run the 4 QBs to cover a 5x5 easily ..... add another KIT ( either 260 / 320 xl ) to cover the fringe areas. With the overlap you will be able to add coverage ... plus cover up to another 3x3 .

2 550s will cover 10x10 with no problems .... whether or not if it’s a 550 build or say 2 260 doubles to match.

Also covering concrete with panda or another type of reflective material for more useable
Light ( bounce ) instead letting flat matte surface ( concrete ) to absorb the thrown light.

Set up:
4x4 tent with a 4x4 soma sip bed.
Light: 6x 288 quantum boards (running at 500w total).

Should I do 4 or 9 plants in the bed to fill a full 4x4 canopy? My main concern is 4 autos wont grow big enough to fill a full canopy. Has anyone done this yet?

So is the size of my room why ive never been able to max my lights out?

I can only get to 310 watts for my 4 304s, but ive never gone above 210 even in flower or light stress/burn begins...

I keep em 15-20inches from canopy.

How many watts do you guys run?

Man a 2x8 sounds kinda cool, id just have to figure out a way to access it, I would probably make it so that I can raise and lower each Quantum board individually rather than all four as a single light.

Depends on the autos... Some get pretty big, it just has to be sativa dominant so you can get height...

What's the size of your grow space?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'll go ahead anyways. I'm looking a the QB960 board on alibaba from Hansien. That's 960 x lm301B diodes, more than 6 qb288's. Apparently top bin guaranteed. Advertised as 600w with the HLG-600... Recommend max 480w w/o heatsink. I'm thinking 2 of these puppies in my 5x5.

What do you think?

Whats the ticket on that? I'd put 2 in my 4x4...

II don' know... not above 480w which would seem appropriate for a 5x5? In any case I got holes and can easily pick one up. What's your 2 cents?

I caught another deal on Alibaba for 2 288V2 boards, 1dimmable Mean Well hlg 240h-48b,1double heatsink, and 1 dimmer switch for $167 USD... Im gonna get two of them... But I'm gonna take a look at these lights as well...

Only thing is they run max 480w each... Doesn't that mean I need 2 HLG-480H-48's to run these at full potential? Two of those are pretty expensive @ $134 each. They don't offer heat sinks for these either, and they recommend not going over 480w for 2 boards, or half power w/o heatsink. I wouldn't have that big of a problem drilling holes in a heatsink tho as the boards already come with pre-drilled holes. All in all it would be about $500 before shipping. Still not bad for 960w's... If legit should grow some massive colas.

42x36

I do think i need to put some reflective mylar in there. I use the mylar bubble insulation stuff from lowes in my veg/clone/mother room. i built it after my flower room, where i learned reflective is better than kilz white.

Its currently waiting for some bubba kush seeds to germ.

So how many watts do you guys usually run at? Watts per board? I feel like i should be able to crank four 304s to 310 watts without killing my plants.

Still curious what watts per board others are running at with 304s??

I got my new room built and have moved into it. Its as big as i could make it in the space i had, i have 2' x 7' for the main grow area, and another area that will be 3' x 2' for a future grow area. And still plenty enough room to get in there and move around and work.

Pretty sure im gonna get another 320H-C1400 driver and run two 304s per driver instead of 4.

As of now im maxed at 82.5 watts per board, so im just a little over half where they could be. At approx 0.271 watts per diode.

But is everyone running their 304s and 288s maxed out in flower?

I run mine at 85 watts per board. I feel that is just about the sweet spot, the balance of efficiency and light output. I'm running a 4 board light in a 4x4 tent. I may add a couple more boards soonI may lower the power a little
