Closet ventilation

figure out how many cube square feet your closet is, then you can figure out what size fan you need, the fan should say how much air it moves or "CFM" cubic feet per minute, that tells you how much air it's moving out of your area per minute.

my dad did that in the hall way where the cut out was for the attic but he makeshift the 14 inch duct fan to fit the 30 by 20 inch cut out
anyways he did not do no duct work just a switch to turn it on / no duct venting for outflow air it just release into the attic
it works great tho only at night, cools the whole house down to about outside temp,
i was thinking of buying a way over sized one like 12inch inline fan and put it in in the attic or garage to vent my closet becuz my room is soo hot
there was no installation between the walls

How necessary is the carbon filter?

I found a decent deal on a 6" vortex fan and am thinking I can just order it, get it installed so I can get the room up and running next week, then in a week or two when I get paid order a carbon filter and attach it. Is this a decent idea? Does the carbon filter serve any function other than filtering smell because if not I won't need it for a little while anyways?

well to keep things clean in your room (meaning keep out fungus, mold, bacteria and pests) you put a carbon filter on the intake and out take. but you wont need one until you are in flowering if you aren't worried about putting one on your intake.

Awesome I use hepa filters in the house anyways, and I just ordered a 6' vortex fan that moves at like 360 cfm (estimate I can't remember the exact specs) but regardless it should be overkill. Im gonna read up on how to make my own carbon filter because christ are they pricey. Is there a huge difference in performance between the cheaper models like the carbon soc and the expensive 150 dollar can filters like phat etc.? The soc one even claims that it is washable and reusable yet costs a fraction of all other can filters so I'm pretty skeptical.

Buy the right fan for a filter, and see how your grow goes. If you need a carbon filter, make one. I don't use one but I don't really give a fuck either. My house smells like pot either way

im currently running 1600 watts in a similar size space. mine is 3.5 x 5.5 x 8. I have a portable ac in the closet and a 440 cfm fan sucking out the hot air through the 2 cool tubes. there is a 1000 watt hps and a 600 watt in there juicing those babies up. my temps maintain pretty well now staying mid 60's to low 70's with lights off and mid 70's to sometimes low 80's when on.
