For my grow I was given a bag full of random seeds, I germinated the one in the 5 gal. bucket for 6 days in a Tupperware w/ paper towels. Planted on 12/19

I'm using CFL lights 1 200w and 2 75w all three w/ the 6500k daylight for veg.
I have a few pictures below but nothing really worth seeing, I will update when I start seeing some progress. Thanks SMOKE ON! :bigjoint:

I am fairly new at DWC. I have grown before just out of luck with soil.

Sorry,
I guess I was a little confusing about that, I actually started them in a glass of water for 4 days then moved them to a plastic container with the towels for another 3 days. It had a half inch root on the seedling before I sat it into the bucket.

You go by the watts the bulb draw not what they are equal too. Just a tip.
You can start a seed in a 5gal bucket (i have done it before) just make sure the whatever medium the seed is in to keep it wet. It will work but you will have to baby it more often to make sure it pops and grows after that the roots will take care of the rest.

It's been 2 days since I planted my seedlings.I placed two germinated seeds into the same bucket (I didn't think the one seed would make it)
But I guess I was wrong because this is what I woke up 2 this morning.:-o

So I am off to the store to pick up a extra net pot to move this lady ( I need some help tho)I have never transplanted a small plant like this. I would rather let it go then move it and mess something up or stress the other plant out.

That's the thing...... I know my water temp and humidity in the room is just fine BUT I don't have anyway of checking my pH

I know it probably wasn't a smart idea to start these w/ out knowing the pH levels I have read post that some guys won't even grow if they can't check the levels.
My reason why I started my grow w/ out this is I am having a really hard time to find one (don't wana order online) I have a pool but the pH on reads above 6.0 n everything else I find just measures soil.

I'm planning on going out today to try and find one.. I am super excited tho my ladies look great

Ok so I checked my pH levels w/ a pool pH tester which only reads 6.0 and up but from the color I got..... It's reading high 7.0

I know I should get some pH down but I'm wondering because it was a pool tester and only reads above 6.0 does that make any difference..

they work the same if ur water is 7.0 it will be the same with any tester
do u have a local hydro shop? that is ur best bet to fined one if online is
not an option.

Yea I have a worm's way but they closed there was a local pet-smart near by, I bought some tests strips, pH up and down.
But this pH down is telling me to add 1/2 tsp. for a 25 gal. tank I'm working with a 4 gal. I just decided to use a eye dropper and so far its really not moving. I decided to let them go for the night, retest in the morning

when I was doing dwc I would
ph my water to low 5 n It would
rise a few point over nite
I would try to have it 5.7

So I should add 1/2 tsb of pH down to both buckets or, Would that drop the pH too much ?

How did you know I'm fucking blind and cannot read normal print but can see small pics?
For people beginning a new adventure in soil, it's easier in a smaller container at first, as said above.
According to that package, you have a 42w CFL.
Do you have the packages for the other two bulbs so we can see?
You have More than plenty light for those buckets.
Where are the seedlings?

Ok let's straighten this out.... I am not growing in soil and so far no other seedlings just what is in the two buckets
I figured this was a little too much lighting for just the two ladies but I read somewhere that the more light the bigger the yield

With the seedling that size I would just use distilled/ro water and a tiny bit of the ph down or 2 teaspoon of white vinegar for the entire 5 gallon bucket. There have been many times where i just start with distilled water, no nutes and they will get going. Don't sweat it for now, their not gonna die. After a few weeks then you can worry, by then you can find a good ph tester.

With that Dyna Gro (2 teaspoons per gallon) and distilled water your PH should be running about 5.6 - 5.9 with 4 gallons in that bucket. I run that exact same setup and nutes and that's what I get.

I wouldn't start nutes until your plants get a week or two older. Then go very easy, like 1/2 teaspoon for a week then 1 teaspoon the next week then 1 and 1/2 the week after that. (all per gallon of water)

For now, I don't think you need that light in the center. Others with more experience might have better advice however. For now, it's looking good and all you really have to worry about is those roots making it to the water without drying out or rotting out due to a super high water level.

ur good. u might have to add more light later on
depends how big. but 4now everthing looks good
keep it up n always have fun with it.

When I made the water I added my nutes, then a day or so after that I took my pH reading but I was getting a reading of 7.0
I added a 1/2 teaspoon of pH down, brought my water back to 6.0 - 6.5 I would like it to be a little lower but my ladies seem to be doing just fine. So untill I can get a http://www.amazon.com/Hanna-Instrume...words=ph+meter to get a actual solid reading unlike playing color match w/ test strips

I put the middle light up further away from the girls, I'm just going to keep it in their for flowering.

ok you are using not 75w bulbs and 150w bulbs but rather 18w bulbs and a 42w bulb. you see the "Uses Only" number on the box. that's the number you need to go by when using CFL's to grow. other than that everything looks fine to me. I don't know alot about hydro so I can't be of any more help. just wanted to clarify the misunderstanding about the CFL wattage.
