Closer and closer: Bruce Banner at 9 weeks + 3 days

My first grow, a single plant, approaching harvest. Previous pics are here:

The biggest difference in the past week? The "crispiness" of the plant. That's how it looks. Like it went from vibrant green and perky to a less-shiny, dull green-yellow that looks way dryer.

I am seeing the pistils turn deeper orange and recede a bit. . .I'm also seeing bud swell (esp when you compare it against the other pics). The trichomes not only seem less "clear-crystally" but also taller and cloudier and fatter.

There are whole new levels of stank, too.

They're coming along really well. Just keep on with what you're doing and watch your humidity as you get into these last weeks. Keep feeding it and if you feel the need you can taper the nutes down a little over the last two weeks. It's a personal call but don't stop feeding them altogether. I'm at 62 days from flip and I still have a couple weeks to go as well. All my pistils are brown and it's starting to swell a bit but there's more to come. Breeder estimates are guides only - generated by either Full Controlled Breeding Tests or basic marketing hype.

No matter if Auto or photo - plant is in charge.
Counting weeks is not absolute. Your skill , plants health, grow environment/ lighting , feeding are all part of the final finish.

Throw calendars in the compost pile - plant will finish as long as it takes.

I have given up keeping track of weeks in flower. I date them when I germinate, after that I just go by eye. Breeder estimates are just pure fiction.

I have a few flowering now. They were seedlings and the weather got so hot I had to veg them outside. So I just potted them up and chucked them in the tent and turned the timer routines back on. The soil I use is pretty good, so I started feeding them at 30 days. Lost track after that, they aren't close yet. I have taken a super hands off approach to this grow. I have installed CCTV and Google Assistant enabled smart plugs and thermometers/humidity sensors. I just feed them by hand twice a week. They'll let me know when they are done.

Not even done with my first grow and I'm already aligned with those who say "the plant is done when it's done."

I mean, as cannabis consumers. we should be pretty used to dealing with variation.

Only 3 of 5 seeds germinate? Fine. But we're saying it's okay that it's off by 40 percent.

A third of your plants are males? We're off by 33 percent.

So is it that surprising the flowering estimates are radical estimates?

If an 8 week flower is off by only 20 percent, it will take 9.5 weeks. If it's off by 30 percent, it'll take 10.5 weeks.

If a 10 week flower is off by only 20 percent, it will take 12 weeks.

If a 10 week flower is off by 40 percent -- which is a variation we're already completely comfortable with as growers :) -- then it will take 14 weeks.

Just intuitively, to me, these numbers make sense.

The grower said about 7 weeks, so clearly he was wrong.

When I look at different Bruce Banner strains on seedfinder.org, the general estimated grow time seems to hover around 65-ish days.

With my sub-optimal experience, lights and air flow, it makes perfect sense to me that mine will take longer than that.

They're looking great man! Keep up with your watering habits and don't let the humidity slip away from you now that you're getting closer. I wouldn't use that jute twine again for tying up branches as it leaves those damn threads everywhere on the sticky buds. Un waxed kite string or plastic coated electric wire is good and cheap I've found. I use pipe cleaners in a pinch but really try to get the little fuzzies off first.

Just cold H20 with a little occasional CalMag and molasses. I will probably re-veg this plant and try to take some clones, so I don't want to completely run the soil into the ground (pun intended). ;) I've got temps at 66 - 68F and RH at 50%. Tons of air movement.

And you ain't kidding about the twine. What a dumbass I am. I'll probably tweeze them off, unless it's too destructive. Then I'll just inhale them.

The leaves have lost their sheen, the same way human eyes do when people die. Anyone who says they can basically look at the plant and vibe off it, yeah -- you can feel it.

All I know about mine is "Bruce Banner." Grower seemed to recall 7 weeks. :) At seedfinder, the baseline BB seems to be around 65 days, so that's my rough guide. Tomorrow is Day 70 but it's got longer than that, too, I believe. Other folks on this thread are making some great arguments for letting the plant decide, which is sorta where I'm at now.
