Cloning with honey?

So here’s what’s going on... the clones I cut and placed into foil cups all had honey on the base. Only one is left standing... nice and stiff, think it’ll make it. The other 5, well here it is. View attachment 4700219

I’m running a second “set” of clones. This one is only 3. Each is in their own water bottle. They all look very promising! No wilting, reaching for the light and seem like they will create very nice clones of my plant, that is if they root! View attachment 4700222

Any suggestions for my 5 wilting clones?
There was a university study posted here or on icm about cutting the ends of the leaves on clones. They found it reduces the chance of success by half. It causes unnecessary stress and creates more entry points for undesirables. I wish I'd bookmarked the study, but I did not.

Anyway, I know my success rate went way up when I stopped clipping leaves. Strict hygiene and low light have also been important for me.

So next time don’t flip my leaves?

just my 2c

i use a small bottle of water and just let them sit in it
replace fresh water every few days
it will grow roots eventually. or it will die.
but id say i get more clones than failures this way.
im sure if you put more effort and get a humidity dome it will be better
but for minimal effort and a cup of water its not a bad method.

I am not sure what it looks like when the roots start forming, but my stems are starting to look a bit fuzzy lol

thats right they will start to look fuzzy. give it another week or so and you should have roots.
YEET! They def look healthier than the clones I took before. But they were a lot smaller and in a cup. They stayed alive for maybe a week and a half but never grew roots :(

hey, ill usually take 4 or 5 clones and maybe only 2 - 3 will make it.
ive also taken clones where it takes like 3 weeks to root and ive given up on it but left it in water. then one day i see roots.

Well, great news! 2/3 of the bottles clones HAVE roots. They already have formed and are growing every day. Waiting on that 3rd one to pop roots, if it doesn’t.. well at least I have one to create a mother plant :blsmoke:

I still don't understand how my grandmom just left her houseplant cuts in milk bottles on the windowsill and they produced excellent root systems, I've tried several times and failed
This is how I clone my things. I have some grinspoon flowers that were cut weeks ago still healthy in tap water -

As for the honey, it helps to add cinnamon too as an inoculant

Feed them place them off to the side of your veg lights if you didn't cut on a 45 degree angle
its 50/50 and will take longer. I feed mine the same as I was feeding them in veg I do not put
them in a dark spot and I use root bosting solution, coated the 45 degree final cut with, cinnamon,
aloe Vera, honey, molasses and and even my own spit...Lol have not ever lost a cutting knocking
on wooden table now. Here check these out some I thought were a lost cause but didn't give up
and they bounced back...

Always start them in water with a root boosting solution mixed in if you want a 99% success rate
mist them daily with at least water at the end of the first week put a little of the same pre mixed
feed you were feeding them before the cut in the water you have them in they still need a little
light and food after all they are not seeds or seedlings...
