They are in hydration already because I am not a fan of rock wool, or any other medium like it. Some of the best simple set-ups i have seen for cloning put their clones with stems hanging above water and have bubbles that pop on the surface spray water on the stem of plant. Look up DWC cloning and you'll find some articles. What I am hoping for is that once the roots are formed i will not have to worry about transplanting and shock, instead they will just keep growing in the same medium.
Another misconception that A LOT of growers have is this, "people foliar feed water until they have roots to absorb their own." Let me state that marijuana plants do not take water through their leafs! Look in any entry level bio book and they will tell you what the leaves function is: to breath OUT excess moisture and preform as lungs for the plant. I know that keeping plants humid helps with evaporation (simple physics, more water in air = less water evaporates) Soak this in for a second and REALLY think about it because it is the most annoying misconception of growers.
If you don't believe me, DO NOT look at marijuana growing sites, look at scientific articles on how plants uptake water. While marijuana sites do have good information it is not good scientific information. There have been a lot of studies done in which scientists have tried to figure out how plants up-take water and it is still a mystery. but one thing they have concluded is that almost all plants can only take water in from their roots because as the leaves expel water, it creates a suction in the roots which pulls water up (kinda like a syphon). This is why Cactus don't have leaves and instead have spikes, so that there is less surface area for water to evaporate. If "people foliar feed water until they have roots to absorb their own" the wouldn't you think that a cactus would have developed huge leaves in order to take in more water when it rains? Logic people, logic......
But i will let you know how this cloning process goes, if it works i feel it is MUCH better for the plants since they have to go through less transplants/medium changes.
