Cloning Trouble Need Help

I just put some clones in a root riot (rr) cube system. I added clonex solution for the roots and put the right amount of clonex in the water that I gave them last night. I have 2 root riots that each have 50 peat cubes. I have 25 clones in each. One of the rr's has taller cuttings and seems to be doing better. The second of the rr's has smaller cuttings and they are really droopy and look bad today. I put them in about 12-13 hours ago and shaved the stalk before dipping it in the clonex root solution. The strains in the shitty looking rr are different from the others. As I was cloning these I noticed that as I went the last ones looked worse than the ones I did early. The last one are the ones that look bad. Did I let the clones get too much air before putting them in the soil or did I cut them too short (first ones are about 6" and the ones that look bad are closer to 4")? Any help is greatly appreciated.

pics would be helpful. Some strains are harder to clone then others. It's normal for clones to be slightly droopy for a few days after they have been cut.

I will be getting some pictures up soon but don't have any yet. How wet should the cubes in the tray be and how often should I be watering them? The tray that doesn't look like it is going to die started looking really good last night and this morning they are starting to droop again. I watered them lightly and have no updates as of yet. Any help greatly appreciated.

The cubes should be very moist. Not sopping wet to the point where they are completely saturated. But thoroughly moist. You should add water to the cubes whenever they feel dry to the touch. If you have a humidome then you shouldn't need to mist the clones themselves. The wet cubes + the ambient humidity inside the dome is more then enough.

I am about to take cuttings from my 32 females tomorrow. I am looking to root them in a Rapid Rooter using Clonex Rooting Solution gel. I plan to take the cuttings with a razor blade (maybe a scalpel) and dip them directly into the Clonex solution. I will be trying to take an aggressive angle cut and not waste any time in getting the cutting to the solution and into the peat cube.

1. Should the Rapid Rooter peat cubes be wet before I place the cuttings in them?
a. If not how much should I water?
b. Does the water need any nutrients?
2. Should I scrape or slice the base of the cutting? (Heard that will enhance rooting).
3. Do I need to mist the inside of the dome?
4. What kind of heat and light should I try to have them under?

Any ideas are greatly appreciated. I recently had some clones die. I did not take the cuttings but will be doing so this time. I think the cuttings were in the air too long before being put into a root cube. I again thank all for any help and would love to see multiple ideas.

Thanks

1. Yes
a. n/a
b. No
2. You can, some people say it helps. I don't.
3. Yes
4. Mid to high 70's is a good temp. Use a flourescent until the roots are established.

whats the humidity like? do you have domes? the smaller the clone is the harder it is to root and #2 if the hunidity drops to low they will die. without roots the plant needs to get water somehow...it cant absorb it from the roots because it has none, so it has to get the moisture from the air. i spray my clones every 4-6 hours with clean room-temp water to keep the humidity up.

oh, ok. my caregiver just said they will be hermie
they will NOT turn into hurmmy's plain and simple. it is an EXACT genetic replica of the plant, it will be the exact same. unless your specificly stressing the plant so it will express certain phenotypical traits..........

Just an idea, freshly cut clones only absorb water through leaves until there roots are established. Therefore you mist your dome or spray your plants, not a ton just enough, also wet your cubes because the roots will grow to absorb more water. No nuts just water, and yes they will be a little sloppy to start but will perk up after a few days. GL

Me...?I mount a four foot coolwhite flouresent on the ceiling, about 18" from the wall. I take a peice of plywood and about three feet under the light I mount a plywood shelf with two wires strung from the two front corners to the ceiling. I get a clear plastic garbage bag and thumbtack it to the wall and the plywood shelf I had just mounted. I attach the upper front corners of the clear plastic garbage bag to the wires I used to support the shelf with. This give me a nice square clear plastic cloning bin. It's important that the light is mounted outside the bin even though there are ways of doing this by mounting the light inside the bin(just more bullshit). After the new clones are inside the new bin Give them a good spraying with purified water(reverse osmosis). Fold the bag shut in the front and leave an opening about the same as a tooney. This should be good until they are rooted. Spray them again when you start seeing roots. Make sure any extra water can drain freely from the bin. I change the bag with every new batch of clones for sterilization purposes. I place my bin up high because power failure in the Canadian winter can mean freezing. Don't forget to plug the light in! Yes, the cubes have to be totally soaked in purified water before you put your snips in them, like duh!
