Cloning question. Good sign?

Is it a good sign that these small clones haven't even begun drooping a tiny bit and it has been 2 days since they were cut?

I didn't use any hormone powder or gel on any of the cuttings except one. The instructions for those cups said do not use hormone powder cause it can slow down the rooting process in that gel. So out of the six cuttings i only dipped one in powder. I was assuming they put something in the gel to help the process along already.

If the cuttings weren't going to make it wouldn't they have started drooping or shriveling already because of how small they are? Also they are not in a dome. It doesn't say to use a dome for these gel cups.

Were did you get those? znd how do you transplant?
I got these "Gel2Root" at OSH and when the roots come in and grow to a decent transplantable size you just lift them out of the gel and plant. Well I am sure you have to take the tin off the top if you let the roots get long.

So is it good that it has been 2 days and they have drooped or shriveled once?

They look good. U got me interested. What is osh? And yes they would have started drooping n looking ugly by now. I really don't believe in the dome unless u have a lot of fans or extremely low humidity in ur cloning area. Never really had a problem, but that def looks like something to follow up on.

I'll keep this thread updated to let people know how these gel cups work out for cloning MJ, I guess they are good for cloning soft wood cuttings, whatever plants fall into that category...I don't see why They cant clone MJ. 14.99 for 6 cups it better work o_O

OSH is Orchard Supply and Hardware store http://www.osh.com/

I don't know where you are located but we have them everywhere in california

Here is some info on the Gel cups

Thought I'd throw an update out.

It's day 3 I think and the cuttings are still looking healthy and no roots yet, I'm not expecting to see roots for like 1-2 weeks anyway.

I took 4 more cuttings off a different plant and put all 4 in 1 gel cup and I am going to see how that goes. One is freaking tiny I don't know if it will develop roots or not.

Those look like some young healthy clones,so they will prob root with-in 7 days.
I take clones from plants 3-4 weeks old and they root as soon as 3 days.
Seems like the younger the plant it comes from the quicker the roots.
I'll drop a few pics of my clones i took tonight, they are growing fast and looking
more and more like their mom and almost as tall.

Roots in 3 days...I call BS. I'm sure they clone pretty fast but not 3 days.

Ya my plant is about 5 weeks old. The cuttings are a little small but they are looking healthy for being cut off the plant for 3 days

Yup 3 days and i wrote a thread about it too,Using the liquid part of crystallized honey. It worked better than my cloning hormones which also takes less than a week for me,even crazier they were cloned in soil.Maybe im doing too much of the right stuff lol

Wont the roots take on some stress with the clear container?
I doubt it considering it isn't in direct light and I guess the plastic they use and the gel prevent certain wavelngths of light from getting through the container and gel

Alright so bad news for those gel cups. All the marijuana cuttings died that were in the gel cups. I think the only reason was they were too young and the cuttings needed way more attention and care.

HOWEVER! I did take cuttings cut my tomato plant and put them in one of the cups and it popped roots that I noticed today!

I will not give up hope on marijuana cloning in these gel cups. I think the cuttings just need to be fairly older and a little woody like cuttings toward the bottom. Not like cutting you take dip in powder and put into those root cubes. I think this gel was meant for sturdier cuttings that can survive without a humidity dome.

DSCN2928 (Large).jpgDSCN2929 (Large).jpg If this tomato cutting cn pop roots in this gel I have faith that a nice thick woody cutting will survive and pop roots in the gel too. Unfortunately I have no plants that are more than a month old. So I have no woody branches I can cut and stick in the gel. I threw them into flower a few days ago so they should be kicking into high gear and the stems should be fattening up and getting woody so I might be able to take a nice thick cutting from one of my MJ plants in the next week and try again in the gel.

Hey man on that website for the gel stuff it states "Gel2Root is NOT SUITABLE for most Acid Loving Plants." that might be why it don't work.

Yea I noticed that too. Still Marijuana isn't Acid thriving. It likes slightly acidic conditions but can grow in neutral to very slightly acidic

I dunno man peeps that do hydro do what? 5.5, 5.8 thats pretty acidic. I use a diy bubble cloner and the more air bubbles the better. Kinda weird gel has no room for air.
