Cloneing question.

Lets say someone has a large number of plants about 9" to 12" tall, growing from an unfeminized seed source. The plants are not root bound yet, but would love to be repotted soon. Should the plant owner....

A. Top clone all, then flower, then "weed" out males.
B. Clone bottom branches, then flower, then weed out males.
C. Repot and wait for preflowers.
D. Let plants become rootbound and wait for preflowers.
E. Submit your own answer.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

C or A depending on strain...if it's a really really good strain, i'd do A, then C OR I'd grow 1 male in another grow space (can be any room, you don't want top notch growth for males), collect the pollen and pollinate 1 branch from a female and get the seeds... will last me a lot of time and i can grow the strain for free whenever i want.

It just seems like a wasted effort to repot only to throw away half of them. Would it be worth it to flower now and take clones from the bottom when the sex is known.
(i seemed to have forgotten this option when i typed the origanl post) Or would it be too stressful to the clones to pull them back from 12/12 to veg. Are clones from the bottom not as good? It seems it would put less stress to clone from there.

I can't tell if i am being smart or lazy.

Take clones both ways, then flower them.

You can also take clones after they show flowers and then all subsequent clones are fully mature already but that stresses the plant a little so that's a last resort in case all of the first clones die.

Update:
I got most plants sexed and transplanted....some still are keeping their sex a secret. I cloned the bottom branches that I would have to cut anyway. I will start to flower in two days. Plants are showing some signs of Mag def but I sprayed with Epsom salts and will start using CalMag.

Thank you Doctor Cannabus and Oregon Meds.
