You don't go by height as much as age and the size of the cuttings. I've done a lot of experimenting with
taking clones from clones and developed 2 pretty good rules.

1. Donor clones, moms-to-be, should be at least 4 weeks old before you take cuttings from her. At less than 4
weeks old the success rate goes way down for me. Even the tallest young clone moms need to hit at least 4
weeks of age.
2. Size matters. If you cut enough clones you will notice that the ones with a larger diameter have a hole that
runs right down the center of the stalk. Bigger the cutting the bigger the hole. Cuttings too small to have the hole
are harder to root as clones.

So make sure mom is at least a month old and wait for holey stems.
