CLONES WITHOUT ROOTS... what am i doing wrong?

Hi there,
about 2 and a half weeks ago i cloned 20 cuts out of my mother (san fernando OG).
the mother is a clone and i think she was 45 days old (first time i tried to clone from this mother).
the clones are in 2" rockwool and they are green looks good and grew just a little bit.
its been 17 days and no sign for roots. today i pulled out of the rockwool 5 cuts and no roots...
it is not the first i clone i have done it before many times and the roots came out after 7-10 days.
THE bottom of the cuts i pulled out looks brown/rotten exactly where the first roots need to come out from.

ANY IDEAS WHY?

IS IT THE MOTHER?

IS IT THE STRAIN?

IS IT ME?

don't feel like spending $200 for clones again.

THANKYOU.

The brown/rotten end of the stem indicates that it is not going to make roots. There are a lot of variables to cloning and any one of them can make at least a 90% difference in your success. The thicker branches work best. When you cut your 45 degree cut, make sure it is just under a node. Remove the fan leaves from the first two nodes and trim the outter half of any other fan leaves. Dip them in your gel, powder or whatever cloning stuff you use, and put them into the RW. I personally use Clonex and Rapid Rooters and have about 95% success.

this is exactly what i was doing...
strange, i never had %0 success.
i cloned 20 tangerine dream at the same time and 17 made it.

Beats me. Some strains just take longer to grow roots and some are almost impossible to root.

clone-x has never let me down. a feeding every two days with a daily foliage spray works 100% for me. i also use a heating mat, don't know if that will help you

Your cubes may be too wet. 1 inch cubes should weigh about 30g. They should be moist, not wet or soggy. It may be too warm or too cool. The pH may be off. If it's not at 5.8 they take a lot longer to root. Soak the cubes in pH 5.8 water, shake them out, and then drop them in another 5.8 to soak a second time, then shake to use.

It takes some experimenting to have regular success cloning. " The thicker branches work best."
True. Make sure the clone is large enough so you can see a hole in the middle of the stem. Smaller clones won't
root nearly as well as larger ones. But the biggest mistake made by begining cloners is keeping the clone too wet.
Use a dome and make sure there is always water in the tray under the dome. The clones under the dome will
absorb most of the liquid they need via their leaves. I may have to directly add water to the rockwool cube itself
just once or twice in a 2 week period. Hope that helps.

Also make sure that the bottom ot what every your clones are in are warm prolly arounf 80degress and line from and electri blanket should work well.

I did 3 tries with cloning with different mediums, rooting hormones and such and they all died the same way. If you want to buy a aero cloner buy one. If you don't want to buy a $200 cloner then build one.

This is correct.
