Clones V/S Seedlings

I was wondering about the potency of the clones. Is a clone the same copy of the mother, included potency, or the clone has less strength than the mother?

exactly the same it can lose punch after a couple of run threws. keep the mother/seed and clone from her or with in the 1st or 2nd generation of cloning. i clone my seedlings then flower my seedling and keep the clone to find out what the plant is like and if its worth keeping. BCN diesel by kannaba is fantastic clones like a champ. Vinnilla kush does not clone so easy. but either way find one you like and baby mark mark mark them!

I have dabbled with cloning, made a aero clone and i have obviously started from seedling and to be hinest i like seeds better i think. cloning seems to be taking entirely too long to get to a point where i can flower. maybe im not doing something right but it seems to take around 3 weeks from cutting to getting new growth. a seedling in 3 weeks will be around 1-2 ft tall depending on genetics. just thought i would add my experience.

as far as genetics the clone is going to be an exact copy of the mother like above said.

i had the same problem as you, seems like cloning was longer. but if you have the right setup it is actually much faster. but i felt your frustration on waiting for clones to boom in growth :(

  • Clone—In biology and agriculture, any organism whose genetic information is identical to that of a parent organism from which it was created; natural reproductive processes producing clones include parthenogenesis and apomixis.

I'm still really depressed that this question is continually asked. The exact definition of a clone is a clone. I just don't get it...

In my opinion i use clones its faster and gauranteed female. The clone keeps the same age as the mother and you dont need to veg long if you do alot of clones at once you get more yeild. Seedlings take longer to grow and unless there feminized you waste time and fertilizer.clones are guarenteed everytime. I dont veg mine and they still end up 20 inches tall. So do the math with 50 clones.

I completely disagree. It can lose its punch if the grower is not keeping the plant in good health and executing good propagation techniques... But a clone that is taken care of will stay strong for years and years... I've got some approaching 4 years old that are producing better than those first couple of runs.

IMO, a clone gains resin content and loses about 4-5 days of 12/12 needed after it is about a year old.

Also, after you work a clone a couple times you know exactly what it wants and you can cater to its needs. With a seed, it's pretty much one shot.

I have yet to find a plant that is so difficult to root cuttings from that it is not worth it to work as a mother.

Good call. You get know the strain inside and out and the better you understand your plants the higher the yield. I don't need to mess about very often with EC metre and ph. I know from the start of each grow that when I clean my res, I know exactly how much nutes etc to get my EC and ph perfect without checking metres. I know that in 6th week flower I have to refil my tanks every 2 days almost to the hour.

Thx all for your help. So if a clone grows properly it can actually have the same potency and be strong as the mother plant.
