Clones' leaves turning bright green and light brown

Could spilling water on the leaves of my clones have anything to do with the leaves turning light brownish yellow and dry. The leaves on four of 7 clones have suddenly turned bright green with a few leaves a light brown color, mostly at the tips though. This has happened before and it seems that they grow out of this when I transplant them, but I don't know why it's happening. The light isn't too close, I don't believe I over water them because they are dry before I give them more water. The are isn't too hot either, in fact it's probably not quite warm enough for a vegging area but it has been working. Concerns that I have are that these are clones from a clone from a clone. I've read that this matters and I've also read that it doesn't matter. Also worried about air circulation, and the fact that we use our tap water to water them and we have city water. We have fans to circulate the air in the area, but maybe it's not enough because it's in a basement. Any suggestions?

P.S. We haven't given them any nutrients yet either but that's how we always do it. We don't begin giving them nutes until they get bigger. could that be it? Usually when we transplant them from the rooting medium into a pot with soil that we buy from a grow shop the begin to get these yellow and brown leaves. It's almost as if it is nutrient burn and I guess there are some nutrients in the soil so we thought maybe it was just too much nute for the little clones.
