Clones keep dying!!!

I have tried to grow clones 3 times . Just as they start to get good roots, they die!! I am using a humidity dome, and flourescent light above. THey last about 5 days then start to die. I mist dome as needed. The heat is 75 degrees. I am using jiffy plugs. All water is 6.5 and filtered. What am I doing wrong??? :wall:

looks like there to wet idk never like jiffy plugs i use the burpee seed starter from walmart r you using a rooting compound ?
 
Are you using a rooting compound like Clonex. Just started my first attempt at clones about a week ago and they seem to be doing well but using soil myself
 
Like it was mentioned above rooting hormone always helps.. But remember that plants need air.. Soo the farther along the plants come the fresh air they need.. After roots have shown you don't really need a humidity dome.. I would suggest to keep the humidity dome on for the first week.. Then after that take it off for about an hoour or so everyday.. And gradually increase the amount of time the domes off the more mature the clones get..
 
those jiffy seed plugs arnt good for cloning nowhere for the roots to expand ! ur better off wth potting soil r coco and a solocup roots shouldnt be exposed to light !
 
It seems that they might be too wet. The humidity dome is only necessary before roots appear and should be removed daily for an hour or more to let the leaves dry out. Are the bottoms of the cuttings rotting or turning brown and soft. This could be an infection that occurs due to unclean tools used for cutting. They look good until the infection closes off the opening and they wilt like they are thirsty.
 
I have noticed even plants once they start up that used jiffy plug for are even stunted...so that makes sense. What about rockwool?
 
I use jiffy pellets/peat pucks.. and mine always do fine never droop.. and i have a 9/10 success rate.. i think your clones just got to much moisture
 
No...see no rot. The time before I checked after top died, but roots and bottom of plant looked good

And i have used rockwool and i personally prefer peat pucks/ or rapid rooters.. The only problem with rockwell is with pH can be fucky and they dry out faster
 
Too cold and too wet. Squeeze about 50% of the water out after plugging the clone and maintain that moisture level in the jiffy, usually a light damping once a day. Clones prefer about 85 and get a heat mat to warm the jiffy and help it dry more so it needs a water once a day.
 
i found clonex was a little strong started using formulax and had no problems and used then cubes things but they do not like the heat very much so dont have temperature to hot
im a noob ant that seems to work for me i have them in a normal propagator
 
I've found that the tap water in my area isn't good at all for clones. It has a ph of 8.5-9 out of tap and way too many dissolved solids. Try using RO water from the grocery store. I also use jiffy pellets and the roots pierce through with no problems. Cannabis loves a wet/dry cycle. Especially, at the clone stage. Also, try using a drop or two of Superthrive in the spray. I hope they do well. Remember clones spend all their energy on root growth at first. They wont always look the best on top at first. Just my two cents. Peace.
 
Once you see the roots coming, gradually raise the dome a little at a time, place some object under the dome to raise it 1/2" to 1" daily, bare in mind your clones have lived in high humidity and if you remove the dome right away, it tends to shock them. Take your time to aclamate them to open air. what you're doing is right since you can see roots coming out...hope this helps....gorw on my friend.
