Clones in the fridge

So my buddy cut a few tops for me to try in my grow - Green house cheese and trainwreck. I couldnt meet him till two days after the cuts were taken due to a last minute emergency. He kept them in wet paper towel and inside his fridge. When i went to root the cuttings, the phylum had started to brown and harden at the point of the cut. I sliced a few cm's up in hopes to expose live stem. I've set them in the clone chamber as usual, and after 2 days they seem to be doing alright. They are reaching up to the light and straightened.

Has anyone ever done this? I used to be sooo careful with taking clones, I wanted to make sure no air went in the stem, so i'd actually take the cut under water. Over the years I've found that ganga is a very resiliant plant.

Has anyone ever had a cutting survive after living in a fridge for 2 days before rooting?

What a odd thing to do. He must of thought of the flowers he had once bought his girl, keeping them fresh. I don't think it was a good idea with your cuttings. Good luck bro!

I have a friend who does that too when he needs to. He's said that they can sit like that for almost a week, and still be fine.
Personally, I'm as quick as possible getting mine in rockwool, oasis, etc.. But, my friend has many yrs. successful experience, so I guess there's something to it.

These have been in my fridge for a month :bigjoint:

Expect a lower success rate, and change the water weekly if you plan to keep them a long time

So yeah, both clones rooted. Full roots on the Trainwreck at 9 days, Cheese ready at 11 days. So it took just about as long as usual, and with great results. This has really enlightened me - I often find things tight in my mother room, but cuttings are'nt needed for 2 weeks or so. Now I know I can take these cuttings whenever I need and store them till needed. Thanks again to OntarioGrower for stting me straight with the FAQ's! I must be a newb
