Hey all,
I'm currently working with two strains, both by Subcool/ TGA Genetics. They are: Jilly Bean and The Flav. I grew five of each from seed.
Jilly Bean: 3 females
The Flav: 2 females
The Jilly Bean plants are easy to clone; no troubles at all with them.
But The Flav plants, for whatever reason, I'm having difficulty with. Anyone familiar with this strain/ know of any tips for clones? Or, does anyone have any general information about plants that might be more difficult to clone? I know that The Flav is a cross between Romulan x Space Queen... not sure if that information helps at all but just throwing it out there.
As for my process:
I'm using Rapid Rooter root cubes, Olivia's Cloning Solution, and Rootech Cloning Gel.
I take my cuttings from the lower part of the plant and let them soak in a cup of Olivia's Cloning Solution ( 3/4 cup per gallon) pH at 6.3-6.4 approx. while I prep my work area. Also, I let the root cubes soak in the remaining Olivia's Cloning Solution (again, mixed at 3/4 cup per gallon and pH'ed to approx. 6.3-6.4).
I take a cutting, make the 45 degree cut, split it at the base, dip it in the cloning solution and make sure to really coat it; then I cut the big fan leaves in half and take a root cube and squeeze the root cube just a little to let out some of the soaked up water and then put in the cutting and put it under the dome. In the tray, I put about 2-3 cups of Olivia's Cloning Solution, and for the first two days I leave the openings at the tops of the humidity dome fully closed. Also, I mist the inside of the dome about 3 or so times a day.
At the third day, I open the humidity dome a bit more (about a quarter per circle). Then on the fourth day I open it to a half per circle, leave it at that until the sixth day when I open it full. So by the sixth day the humidity dome is still on, but with the tops fully open, and I continue to mist through all of this (both the dome walls and the plant leaves).
And that's my method, and it works just fine for Jilly Bean and it has worked fine in the past for Blue Dream, but for whatever reason I'm not having much success with The Flav, and I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
Any help is appreciated. Sorry if the details seem overkill. Just trying to be thorough to give you a good idea about my process in case I am doing something wrong.
Also, the leaves look funny, and not like mold... more like nutrient burn, if that's possible... I don't know...
Anyway, for any responses, thank you in advance.
