sorry but the whole cloning/mother issue is still a bit murky to me. so i have a few qustions...just bear with me.

1. the mother...You have a few young plants one of whom will become a mother. how do you tell wich one is female before the flowering stage? do you veg them long enough to show preflowers? or do you take them into flower, ID the sex and pull one out? or is there a better method?

2. How old/tall/big must the mother be to take cuttings off of?

3. About how often can one take cuttings from the average mother?

before i knew jack about growing pot, i asked questions on this site and got a ton of good info which put me on the right track.

so now before i know Jack about Cloning...im doing the same

thx for any answers.

Take the clones first then 12/12 them to determine sex. You can start taking clones when you have alternating branches, at least I do. As for taking cuttings from a mom it all depends on how many clones you take per session. If you go to my gallery you will see my Mango mom, she was about 4 weeks old when I took clones, I took 6. The picture is one week later and I could still get a ton of clones. I think this depends on your strain mostly.

Yes and no read in the growfaqs about clones, you won't regret it. A clone is an exact copy of the mother, so in theory it will be the same exact plant. So if you have a plant that is kicking ass and pretty hardy you hope it is female and you just clone the crap out of it, no need for seeds and you know what to expect from your clone...it will be exactly like mommy plant.

Use a female clone for a mother, simple.

Depending on how you grow it, you could take clones very soon, or in a few months.

say you start grabbing clones before you know the sex 100%. the plant turns out to be male...all your clones will be male as well, am i correct?
