Clone Question

This is going to seem like a question that has been answered a lot. Granted Ive read a lot of them, and watched some YouTube videos as well. Frankly speaking I'm still confused as hell. I have 7 Nirvana Bubbleicious and 3 Ceres Skunk (unsexed) that i would like to clone. They are 34 days old, and this is the 2nd day into 12/12 cycle. Ive read you can take clonesd up to 2 weeks into flower with out huge noticeable delays in the roots growing. And because i want to keep them relatively small (heard they become 3x bigger after the switch from veg to flower) i want to take clones now. I want to keep them close together, probably doing a SOG. From my understanding you don't typically want to top the plants in this method, but rather remove the lower 2/3 of the plant to lollipop it and make the bud at the top the focus.

With that said what i have realized is that i need to have 3-4 nodes on the stem I'm cloning, usually removed from the bottom of the plant, but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of nodes on the branches that i have to choose from at the bottom. (Yes i know looking at the picture i missed numbering the top one, lets call it 0)

Wheres should i take the cutting. I was thinking about taking one from this plant, using the #2 and up spot (3 nodes) which gives me 1 clone from each plant. Then i can top these while in vegging (these would be my actual mothers, as all the plants at this point are unsexed) for the 1.5-2.5months that these are flowering for, i should be able to top a few times and get 3-6 clones from the mother (i only really need about 10 total)

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is all a learning experience. Thanks in advance ladies and gents. Please see my journal if you have any questions.

That's a tuff one dude, but you should for sure show another picture a little further away. I would not chop the top at this point. IMO, wait another week or so into flower and those bottoms should be ready for you. Peace :leaf:

The top makes a great clone but so do the lower branches. I always top my plants but if I'm just taking clones I take the bottom branches; the top is just a bonus.

Ok.. Ill wait a week, see how the bottom develops. I'll take a picture or two before and after cuts. Thanks guys. I may be back to revamp my question if I'm still confused in a week. I'm hopping Monday which would be 6 days into flower (out of sheer convince of the day off).

Just pick a nice vigorous branch man; IME it doesn't matter how much stem you leave; after all, any stem buried will grow roots. I just pick a nice branch that looks like it wants to be a clone and follow a basic cloning procedure. I'll have anywhere from 2 to 6 nodes and rarely have any issues :) It's not math; it's feel. I usually lollipop thru ought veg, but I also SC and FIM. I only lollipop parts im not going to use as clones tho. then after taking my clones, which is about 2 weeks before flipping, then I finish up my entire lollipopping regimen. I try not to do any plant maintenance after 1 week after flipping. lessens the stress to the plant imo.
