My recommendation to anyone is buy or build an aerocloner. I bought my 25-site unit for $60, and it is the best investment I have made.
I don't use gel, I don't do anything special, I just cut my clones and throw them in the cloner and never look back until they go in my flower tent. I have success rate of very near 100%, and I clean my cloner out every 9 weeks, and replenish with 7.0 tap water (and top it up every two weeks).
You will never have a clone issue again, I can pretty well guarantee it (environmental fuck-ups aside).

I don't normally throw the term "investment" around, as I actually know what the word means, but in this case, my cloner was definitely an investment, as the time it has saved me is invaluable. I calculate my time in the garden at $50 per hour, and that $60 has saved me countless hours.

I have an areocloner its aight........I actually prefer rapid rooters though the clones seem to trans into dirt a little quicker from the RR's to soil rather than aero/hydro roots to soil.....both work great for me though and if I were going straight to dwc or other hydro the aerocloner would be preferred........
I would say start taking your dome off your tray an hour a day and let them harden off a little before the transplant.....after the first week I will take my domes off for just an hour the first day.....they usually wilt and bounce back when I spray the dome and put it back on........then take it off the next day....on and on and soon they don't care if its on or off....then they're ready for cups......all with a heat mat under neath it all........works for me when I don't feel like firing up the cloner.....cheers.

yeah you can do that usually you want to go in bigger pots than solo cups the cloner will make BIG water roots....you can grab them when they have little nubbins too but if you wait and transplant teh whole cloner at once there will be some big root systems in there.

It's true the best growers I know that use cloners just use water.......I would recommend you put your clones in some standing water for several hours like a cup or whatever you know make a bouquet to prevent a possible aneurism on the way to the cloner might bring you up to 100% mang.

I do it all the time get a larfy underdeveloped bottom.....the hairs will turn into single blade leaves its pretty neat to watch.
That is EXACTLY what I do. I'm taking clones momentarily, so I'll take pics of that, and of some of my 2L buckets I drop my clones into after they root.

have always just used 1 1/2 wool cubes, soaked in purified water with a little hygozyme a little cal mag, a splash of clonex, and a sprinkle of great white microrhize for 24 hour. dip quickly into clonex gel and into the dome. set on a heat mat set at 72 degree's and forget about them,maybe lifting the dome after a couple days for a second or two. Have nice bright thick fishbone root's after about 10 day's then go to solo' cup's. Then use gen. org. line of organic nute's at 'bout full strength and all is good. might loose one or two at the most,100% most alway's though. I have thought about cloner's but figure that if it's not broke,don't break it.Also don't want to use even the smallest amount of power on anything other than flowerin' and t-5's for mommy's
Homie, I don't mean to take away from your post, but this describes exactly why I use an aerocloner. It took me more time to read that sentence than it does for me to spit 20 clones out

ps... I plant in soil, hydroton and perlite, but I've also tested sticking my clone in rockwool in the net basket in my aerocloner and dropped it into hydroton as well. Works the same, but I personally prefer to have roots-only without the rockwool for my setups.

spek9, you have me thinking I should make or buy an aerocloner. I only recently started growing again after about a 15 year hiatus. Rapid rooters do work reliably but you are right that it requires time baby sitting them... and time is money. My state looks to be completely eviscerating the MMJ laws we have on the books currently. If that miraculously doesn't happen I will be "investing" in one myself. If the state does do a complete greedy profit grab there will be a tidal wave of cheap grow equipment on the market in my area. My equipment will sadly be in that "wave"...
