clone problems.

so, i planted my clones about a week ago, i took my cuttings with a clean sharp razor blade, then scarred the bottom, trimmed off extra leaves, then clipped the leaves to help roots production. and only one of the 3 showed roots, the other 2 have no roots, and the bottom of the stem where the roots would come out is all brown and shriveled, what the fuck?

Method used to get them to root?

i have them in rockwool, which is in an ebb and flow style system under 2 15 watt florescent lights, i put plastic wrap over the container to hold in humidity too.

and i just used a rooting powder on them, and i have a small amount of clonex, rooting nutes in the water too.

I quit using cloning powders because some of them formed a hard little cap over the end of the cutting.
Switched to a cloning gel and the problem disappeared.

When I first started cloning, some of them just did not take root. I don't know could of been the angle of the cut or anything. That's why they usually tell you to take twice the number you think you'll need. Now that I'm better at it I don't lose any and I use both gel and powder. I'm using powder right now and cloning straight into Happy Frog soil, no rock wool or anything and it works fine.

well, the one that had rooted is still doing well, i lost one of them it wilted and died, so i planted a new one using a rooting gel, but the third i took and put in a rooting gel and replanted it, she doesn't have roots coming out yet but it has sprouted a new leafset, does that mean it is going to do okay?

I'm gona mention a method that's been good to me, 100% each time.

Surgical scalpel, wiped clean with alcohol after each use, 45deg cut at a node, then placed in small pot of coco, which has been pre-soaked in 0.7 ec'd grow bloom feed, then bagged in clear baggie, sprayed and tied airtight, then put under weak 20w energy saver, with white carrier over the top, check every 5 days to see if any roots have come out the bottom, when they do, open the bag a little by little until they acclimatise, then they be ready in like 10-20 days depending.
You can put more of these in larger baggies depending, but I also spray them 100 times with a spray bottle, then tie them airtight to keep humidity up. My cuts are normally around between an inch and 2 inches.

I don't cut any leaves, only the ones off the node where I am cutting it at 45deg angle, and no rooting hormone...

Probably kept them to moist and they rotted. In my experience, ive lost to many clones to rot from high humidity. I find its unneeded to keep the hum. as high as possible to root clones. Ive had pretty good success just taking my cuttings and placing straight into some moist coco and spraying them every so often through out the day.
