So i gave this clone to a friend of mine when it was really young (maybe 2 inches) but it had a root system growing already so i knew it would live. He sent me this photo today and i wanted to see what you guys think. The strain is northern lights, he is growing indoor and using soil as his medium and i am unsure of the light he is using. I think it looks strecthed, is that why it isn't filling out? Sex was confirmed from mother so we know she will bud but where are the bud sites? She is 3 feet tall right now and he is planning on transplanting in ground this weekend, should he keep it inside and get more lights or transfer and let the sun (Texas) do it's thing. Any input is greatly appreciated!

it looks to me like it is fine, just a little stretchy due to the light spectrum most likly.. it has alternating nodes prbly cause it was cut off a fully mature mother. if it is cared for correctly it will be fine. goodluck to you and your friend

no its not fine, it needs more light.

they throw out single bladed leaves when they are light deprived.

Do you think that a couple 6500k cfl along the stem would do the trick. I'm afraid that if he puts it out now that it will end up being a really thin flowering plant.

i think if you add a couple cfls it will be very inferior to taking it outside to finish.

It looks like its right on the edge of enough light too. You can see where some branches want to form, they just aren't inspired enough to do it.

What size container is it in? If its still in a solo cup that will be harmful too. If your friend is going to flower it soon then I would move it to a three or five gallon container.

Edit: Tell your friend to get a fan blowing on that plant too. That stem is way too thin.
