clone advise

hi guys,
i started growing a few plants ages back(nutes problems and light problems), and they never really took off, so i thought i'd take few cuttings and see how if i could get them going.

So i took some advice of some vids, I couldn't take a big cutting as the parent plants didn't even have any big branches, so their just small cuttings.
Cut at 45degrees, whiped in root hormone stuff, then planted in potting mix, water little but frequently, and kept in reasonable high humitdy.

well two of them were done a week ago, and the one that looks like a cabbage leaf(lol) was done 2-3 days ago.

their not brown and dead, but their green and not doing much.

what should i do, stick with it? add nutes? kill and cry?
ideas!,
many thanks

also their under a 20w cfl atm. prob about 20degrees

The cuttings you take have to have branches on them. You can't just cut off a leaf. I hope the vids you watched explained taking your 45degree cut just below the bottom leaves of the branch and then cutting those two leaves off, dip in your rooting whatever and plant. They would need to be misted, not watered, since they don't have any roots yet. I can see from your time in the forum you really want to do this well. If faq is back up Mogie has posted some tutorials there. I printed one out and put it in the grow room, read it over each time for the first 5 or 6 times of cloning and still found things I had missed. You will have to do more research. VV

I agree what VictorVIcious said. just cutting the leaf does nothing as you gave the plant nothing to grow from.

1. cut a growing steam. You can always tell the growing part as it has new leaves coming up.
2. mist the thing, don't make the soil too wet or too dry. If it is too wet the new roots will rot, too dry and the soil may become to hard to grow roots. If you have good soil don't worry about nuits as often this will kill the plant.

Now my knowledge comes from growing up on a farm where we grew tomatoes (among other vegetables) . I believe the same theories apply.

ah right, so they need branches, this makes sense - a place to grow from.
out of interest, what will happen to these cuttings?

your current cuttings will die as they have just about done so already. bin them now as it is no point growing them.

Make sure you take branches off the side, not just a leaf. And misting them is essential as they have no roots to get water from. I would maybe try a moist not wet organic peat plug instead of soil. Now that is just my opinion as I have had tremendous success with them. Do you have them in a dome? Good luck.

That is what makes this so much fun, the experiments, trials and errors, the harvest at the end. Keep on growing.
