Clogged filter?

My tent is running hot today, 90F, and with the temp here being 68 it should be much lower.

I have a lot of dry dirt in my back yard so a lot of dust is sucked into my grows intakes. The white sock on the outside of my filter is caked with dirt and I believe it is slowing the airflow.

I don't even know what carbon filter I have. Something I got online with good reviews. I read that they were effective for multiple gross but I would just settle for one.

Anybody ever deal with this? Can I clean the filter without ruining it?

Took a second once I stopped panicking. Just slipped off the prefilter and slapped it around. My temps immediately dropped.

The white prefilter can be washed several times before they start to fall apart. I suggest you do that before every grow. You can also buy replacements.

I just dunk mine in water several times and ring it out.

Thanks! Just in a light soapy water? Or just a good rinse? This dirt is a bummer though. It's so dry and abundant I feel like it will end up ruining the rigid filter material before too long. I guess I can just take it down and blow it out with an air compressor? Any way, thanks a lot for the tip!

I don't even use soap. I just get a big barrel of water and dunk t a few times. Ring it out then rinse and repeat a few times.

I think the last ones I got like 6-8 grows out of before they were too damaged after washing.

If you have a pressure washer in sure that could work as well. Just stand back a little and throw some soap on it if you wanted and go to town.

Good stuff.... I'm 2 weeks into 12/12 and I noticed that it doesn't take much to make me panic. Thanks a lot for the info.

Hah yup. There is always something to do while growing. Whether it be plant related or checking on pumps/equipment etc
