Cleaning Pieces

Okay, I'm a firm believer in alcohol and salt, I know you can microwave the alcohol for a bit to get it warm and it works a little better.
But I'm at an impass, when my pieces dry theres still a slight film of what can only be resin, all on the inside.
So I was thinking of a few ideas, I have my pH Down, which I thought might clean it seeing as it's an acid. But I wanted to get a few safer ideas as I don't want to go straight to acid from Alcohol and salt (also I've used green lightning from the local shop, whole bottle of it microwaved and not microwaved).

Thanks for any input,

Stick with Alcohol & Salt bud, just put some more elbow grease into it. Fill it up, cover the carb, mouth-piece, and bowl. Then shake the fuck out of it. :weed:

Everclear works well and if your piece is made of glass so will acetone. I tried acetone on my plastic bong and it just turned all milky...still smokeable but looks like shite.

if you need put more salt than alcohol. that way the salt works better as an 'abrassive material' as your shaking the crap out of it.

Alcohol & Salt is the only way to go. I don't like how some use chemicals at times, don't fully flush it out as they are anxious to smoke, and then you end up with a harsh flavor. Alcohol & Salt is cheap, quick, effective, and flushes out quick so that it is basically scentless.

If you want to try an acid, use fresh lemon juice and then rinse with hot water. don't know if it will work, but maybe you can try it out and let us know. Worst thing that could happen is you would have to go back to alcohol and salt.

hows the lemon work?
I use alcohol, and a q-tip type stick, bendable enough to remove the gunk.
then a clean q-tip to finish it up.

There are a bunch of piece cleaning products at the head shops.

the store bought stuff is nothing but an abrasive material that wont dissolve in water. and usually an acoholic base.

you can always boil it as long as you're not attatched to the pan (i have a 5 dollar special i use for only this). when the peice is still hot you can still lift off the stuff that didn't boil away with a q tip or toothpick or whatever. i always get real paranoid when i boil a peice because it can clank around if the boil is too intense but i've never broken a peice boiling it. it works best AFTER using the alcohol and salt but if it's not too dirty just the boiling does fine.

Thanks all for the advice, I'll go back and mess with the alcohol to salt ratio, I might not have been adding enough salt to it.

yea basically you want enough alcohol mixed with the salt to make it "swishable" if that makes sense?

I swear by it! & it's hella cheaper than some bullshit 420 cleaner.
I do a hot water rinse in the sink first, get as much out as u can with hot water, shaking, and rinsing. After it's pretty clean, put it in a zip lock with alcohol (91% or stronger is best) and salt and soak/shake peroidically for a couple hours. You can extend this days if you wish, but you should be able to get it 100% clean with enough shaking. If the alcohol gets super dirty dump and replace and keep shaking. Key imo is getting as much as u can with the hot water rinse so the alcohol goes farther.

U can heat ur peice and scrape it all out with a paper clip, the heated resins will stick 2 it easily then afterwards when ur piece is somewhat cleaned u can try the alchohol salt thing to get rid of the rest. I always smoke what i scrape out and get pretty blitz.
